We just returned from a 6 night stay at the Hilton Anaheim. The primary reason we stayed here was because we stayed on points. At the time of booking, we were offered an E-Standby upgrade to a Disney view for $15 a night that I took. We ended up with an amazing corner room on the 12th floor with a great view of the parks and fireworks.
Our room was very spacious. In addition to a good sized standard hotel room, it had a separate sitting room area. There is no refrigerator in the room, but we were given one at no charge for medical reasons (DD has severe food allergies). We were told that we could also have a microwave brought to our room, but we declined. I received an email prior to our stay that linked to a request form where you could request to have these items brought to your room for a one time fee. I think it was $17 per item for the length of stay.
The hotel was next door to the convention center. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon, it was very busy because the Natural Products Expo was just letting out. By Monday, the hotel was pretty quiet, but it starting getting busy for another convention on Wednesday.
The weather was a little cool for me and DH to go swimming, but the kids did. The actual pool is pretty basic, but it had a very nice play area. The actual pool was heated.
I have HHonors gold status, so we were given the choice of Starbucks vouchers or continental breakfast vouchers in the Mix Restaurant. We took the Starbucks vouchers which entitled us to any grande beverage and a pastry item. I had read online that the Starbucks line would be very busy and it was correct! I showed most mornings right as they opened at 6am to beat the big crowd. DH went down the last couple of mornings between 8am-9am and it took 20-30 minutes to get through the line, so beware!
The walk to the park entrance was about 15 minutes. We exited the hotel through the parking garage rather than the front entrance. I have to say that Harbor Blvd. drove me a bit nuts. It felt like I was on the Vegas strip. I'm surprised that they haven't built any overhead pedestrian walkways because it seems like it would be a lot safer. In the mornings, we walked directly to the parks, but at the end of the day, we did jump in the Toy Story parking lot bus. We don't think that using the shuttle bus really saved any time, but it did cut down the walk by a very long block. The shuttle buses were very efficient. There was always one there ready to be loaded and several empty buses ready behind it.
On two nights, we ordered food from restaurants at the GardenWalk. It was a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. This worked out very well on Friday night. I called in our order to California Pizza Kitchen which was ready in 15 minutes. As I walked up to the GardenWalk, people were saying that everything had an hour and a half wait.
