Yup Dee, that's my favorite seat on the safari too! :thumbsup2

I'm still not convinced those crocodiles are even real. They just never move.

Looks like a pretty darn good safari despite the lazy lions. I love how you built up to it though since that's always how I act.

Ok, we're getting close, will the lions be out... and... oh yay... a rock. :headache:

Great safari pics!!!
I would also love to do the tour. Tom was asking about it while we were on the safari ride in August. I don't think we'll have time on our January trip but some day….

Great safari pictures :) I've never really given my seat much thought except that I always like to be at the end of a row -must pay more attention in future :lmao:
Love, love, love the "mere cat" picture :rotfl:

Great pics! I never really thought about my seat either, except being on the end.

Great safari shots and that last funny is sooooooo funny!!!!!!!

Awesome photos! We skipped AK on our last trip and I can't wait to get back next time!

Thanks!

We actually had considered skipping AK since we only had 3 full days and 2 half days at Disney, but we compromised with a half-day there, and we did almost everything we wanted to do.

:cool1:

Wow! Fake crocodiles AND animatronic sleeping lions? What is this, the Jungle Cruise?

I was pretty happy with what we saw on the safari. We didn't get a great look at the elusive cheetahs, and there's not a lot of pride in my lion photos (get it? :lmao:) but it was a great safari none-the-less.

:woohoo:

Thank you!

I agree- the AK tour is definitely on my Disney bucket list.

I have noticed that you get the "best" views of the animals when you sit on the left-hand side. You are on the side of the hippo pool, the rocks with the lions and a few other animals.

I almost felt badly for Ben who was over on the other side of the jeep trying to take pictures on across the row because mom was hogging the view. Almost.

Glad you enjoyed the "mere cat" I cracked up when I saw it. I actually posted it once before on Rob's (DisneyKid4Life) trip report, but I wanted to make sure it appeared here, too.

:rotfl:

Thanks for the kind comments about the pictures.

Yup, enter the jeep first to sit on the left for better views.

During one vacation several trips ago, I was actually going to try to figure out the best seat for the various 4 plus-to-a-row rides based on what you see (Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Backlot Tour, Dinosaur, Ellen's Energy Adventure) but I am always too distracted or taking pictures to make note of what is best.

:thumbsup2

Great safari shots and that last funny is sooooooo funny!!!!!!!

Thanks so much, Jen!

I do love that "Mere Cat" comic!

:rotfl2:

Hilarious cartons Dee. Perfect intro for your safari update. (My new favorite at AK even though I didn't see a single elephant last time!)

I admit that I'm glad you zoomed in the lion at the top of that rock, I would have missed him. You would think I would know that pose, that looks rather like my hubby on a Sunday afternoon! Did that ostrich completely miss roosting over those eggs? Are those eggs even real? (I've been told but then again I don't believe everything that I hear. ;))

That mere cat funny! :lmao::rotfl2: Hilarious!

BTW: going back to the tiger scat in the queue for EE - it is in the stand-by line (or was) so if you did FP you wouldn't have seen it.

Hippo-critical... a giraffic jam... mere cat

:rotfl2: :rotfl:

Great safari pictures! Love the pile of ostrich eggs!

We've skipped AK on the past two trips, so I'm looking forward to going there again whenever we book our next trip.

Great combinations of pictures taken by you two. The animals really seemed to be out and about that day. Oh and super funny comics! :lmao:

That is too bad that you didn't see any elephants. We really hit the pachyderm jackpot this time. But I do remember that you had some spectacular cat sightings.

I always wonder if the eggs are real. I'm thinking... not?

Thanks for the info on the scat. We, especially Ben, are real scat fans, and I don't mean the musical genre.

I have had that mere cat picture up my sleve for awhile and I knew exactly where I would use it!

Glad you enjoyed the comics. As you probably figured out, I am a big fan of puns.

I can't take the credit for hippo-critical or mere cat, but Giraffic Jam is all mine from a long ago trip to Six Flags drive thru Safari in New Jersey.

As I mentioned earlier, we considered skipping AK on this trip, but we are all happy with the amount of time we spent there and the things we did.

:cool1:

Thanks! We find that the animals tend to be out first thing in the morning, before it gets too hot. I have also read a few reports that there are lots of animals out at the end of the day, too.

Hope I could gave you a laugh or two with the comics!

:woohoo:

Love your AK day. I'm glad Ben liked EE, it is one of my favorites. Your safari pics makes me want to get to Disney even sooner. Ok maybe I just want to get to Disney. I can't wait for our next trip. AK will be a two day park. I just want to walk around. Love your puns and comics. Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve next.

Dee, you have me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: on the floor with your update. I love, love the cartoons and the safari pictures. Great job on both. :thumbsup2

Sorry I was late to the safari!;) Looks like you and Ben got some great shots of all the animals! We never get a great shot of the lions either no matter what time of the year we've gone:confused3

we've only gotten one good lion shot and it was a total fluke. Evan with my old point and shoot back in 2009. Pure dumb wonderful luck.

Great updates and I am LOVING the cartoons!

YAY for surviving and thriving on EE.

I am a left side behind the driver gal myself.

When the kids don't beat me to that spot :rotfl2:

I love all the comics you post with your updates!

I don't have a favorite seat on the safari. One of us does video, one of us does the camera. Last time Gavin and I sat in the middle and enjoyed it while DH and Uncle did the work haha.

Great pictures of the safari! I love the one of the lion.

Hope to get an update posted tomorrow.

Another busy week coming up. It is tech week for Ben's play Myth Adventures. He plays Theseus, the Athenian who faces the minotaur in the labyrinth. We will be out late every night this week. Rehearsals Monday and Tuesday, Performance-level dress rehearsal on Wed, Opening Night Thursday, show on Friday night, two shows on Saturday and one on Sunday.

I'm the treasurer, prop master and concessions manager for the theatre company, so a lot of work for me, too.

:scared:

EE IS great!!! I'm so glad Ben gave it a go and enjoyed it. My fingers are crossed that you get to Disney soon and have a very special trip. There is a lot of amazing detail at AK, and some really fantastic theming, but my family does not take the time to stop and smell the roses.

:)

Caught up with all 40 pages in one sitting! Always late to the party, but here. :)

Wow! Thank you! :worship:

It should be easy for you to stay caught up! I seem to be getting behind on my own report!

;)

Not late at all!

We had a pretty decent safari. The cats- cheetahs and lions- were a little shy.

I think the best lion sighting I have had was during the 8th grade trip a couple of years ago.

:cool1:

I wonder if those lions know how much anticipation and angst they are responsible for!

I'm glad you are enjoying the cartoons and updates.

The left side of the safari has the best animal views, in my opinion.

It is always a plus when you get to see the lion(s)!

:)

Sorry I have been MIA here and on everyone's trip reports.

I know I said this last week, but I will try to finally get another update on my trip report in a day or two...

I may be one of the few people who actually looks forward to December because life gets less crazy for me.

The past month I have been very busy with events at the middle school, including the student talent showcase, movie nights, a dance and fundraisers.

We just completed the weekend run of "Myth Adventures" with our community theatre group yesterday. Ben was incredible as Theseus, the Athenian warrior who slays the Minotaur, strands his girlfriend on a deserted island and is indirectly responsible for his father's death. Good times!

I am the treasurer of the theatre company and I am also in charge of props and concessions. One of my jobs in concessions is to try to come up with clever names for our snacks. This is not my best work- I have had some really brilliant names for our treats during some of our past shows (Duncan's Donuts and Alas Poor York's Peppermint Patties during MacBeth) but I did ok. We also labeled the rest rooms "Porcelain Gods' Room and Porcelain Goddess' Room" and the place where the actors got ready was the "Greek Dressing Room"

Here are a few pictures from the show:

Apollo's Shrine and Dionysus' throne

Statue Garden- King Midas, Orpheus, Icarus, Theseus (Ben), Dionysus and Echo

King Midas

Echo and Narcissus

Theseus and the Minotaur

Next up on Stage- Ben will audition for a part in the middle school play, "The Music Man" and our theatre company will be presenting "Night at the Wax Museum" in the spring. We will see if Ben decides to do both shows.

I worked more than expected at the farm this fall, but last Friday was my last day until February- we don't hold programs during the winter months.

I would love to share a few pictures of my "office" with you:

The above two gorgeous pictures were taken by one of our volunteers, Jaimie

Here's another picture of the 300-year-old Manor House

My "co-workers"
I can truly say I work with some turkeys, a couple of pigs and a real, "donkey"

Here are some more pictures from Jaimie

Schooner, Cloud and Roger. Cloud is a Kashmir goat, not a sheep, but we still shear him in the spring for his beautiful fleece.

Cloud

Apple the Naughty Goat

And a few more of my pictures

Schooner and Cloud

Alfie and Big Dave

Here is Ben helping out at the farm last summer, with Rusty the Rooster and walking Apple and Cloud, the goats:

I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Carl and Fred wish you a great Thanksgiving, too!

I love the concession sign and the bathroom names...well done. :thumbsup2

Beautiful pictures from the production.

And oh my...I wish my office looked like that! Great pictures.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
