We're back! After the most amazing 4 night stay at the Disneyland Hotel for DDs 6th Birthday.

As you will see from the title of this thread, there really aren't many lows to speak of, so we will start with them.

Travelodge - Kings Cross: We stayed here on Saturday 16th for one night, before we booked it did state that due to the location some noise may be heard. That is a vast understatement. We were allocated room 323 which is a disabled access room as apparently they no longer do family rooms? The room was right on the corner of the building where the train line went under. So every few minutes the whole room would shake as the trains went past. This combined with the loud club across the road meant I got very little sleep that night!

Character Scrums - I am sure these just get worse and worse. It was great to see so many characters about for meet & greets but we actually only got to see a few of them as the scrums were just awful. Olivia ended up saying she didn't want to see any more characters as it always ended up with her getting "hurt and pushed around" - this is just so not what Disneyland should be like!

Now onto the highs....

Disneyland Hotel - Our first experience of staying here and we absolutely loved it. I can't ever imagine staying anywhere else now! The main advantage for us was being able to pop back to the hotel to rest and warm up (which did on many occasions!). The breakfasts were also fabulous! It really was the perfect base for our trip and totally worth the money we paid!

Meet Mickey - What a gorgeous way to meet the big man himself! Although we had already met him on a few other occasions, I'm so glad we did this as well! Olivia would have been quite happy to stay in there all day as it was nice and warm and had the cartoons on to watch! The actual setting for the meet & greet was wonderful too.

Ride Firsts – Had our first ever go on Crush’s Coaster and we LOVED it! Even though we got into the studios at 0945 we still had to queue for over an hour, but it was worth it! DD also felt brave enough to try ToT, she hated it but was very proud that she tried it! Another first for us was getting to go on Dumbo – in all my trips to DLP this is one ride I just never made it on before!

Magic on Parade – On our last trip, I was left a bit flat by this parade and didn’t think it really lived up to the previous one. But I think that was because we had a rubbish view last time. This time we got a place opposite Bella Notta and DD got a lot of attention and it was really magical!

Rainforest Cafe – We had two lovely meals in here, very delicious food and great service!

Stitch Live – We went in this twice and both times Stitch chose Olivia to be his new best friend. I was really proud of how well she spoke to Stitch (she can sometimes be painfully shy!) and she was bouncing off the walls after!

Auberge – We had a really nice meal in here, we met Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle & The Beast – the interaction was brilliant as always. I just love how the princesses make every single child feel special – can’t be an easy job!

Dreams – What can be said about it that hasn’t been said before, it’s just perfect in every way! We saw it on 2 of our 4 nights and the other 2 we listened to it from our room!

New Security Layout I love that once you enter DLP you can move freely between the two parks and the village without having to go through the bag check again! This meant that for our whole 5 days we were completely in our Disney bubble and didn’t have to negotiate the annoying street sellers!

I could really go on and on about all the highs, but will save that for my actual trip report! Which I hope to start writing this weekend!

Welcome back, sounds like you had a fab time:thumbsup2

Welcome back, sounds a wonderful trip with some great new experiences. So want to try the DLH one day myself! :goodvibes Totally agree with you about the improvement to the security layout too.

Sounds like a great trip - we enjoy the Disneyland Hotel also for the reasons you say.

Have they changed anything, I know one thing that did annoy me is going from the DLH to the RER, you have to walk all the way up to the World Of Disney Store close to the Cinema and then walk back down again to the train station, just seemed crazy.

This is still the way you have to do it and it possible the only downside to having the new arrangement in place. Not sure why they could have another exit nearer the DLH side? Guess they just want people to vistit the village on their way out!

However, being able to get from the DLH, to the village without having to do any additional bag checks was such a godsend! We had our bags checked on the way in on the Thursday and then not again for the rest of the trip! :cheer2:

Welcome back!!!!!! Sounds a fab time and glad Olivia enjoyed it (trust no illness in sight??)

I really fancy dlh for the reasons u say, to b able to pop back to (altho ours will b height of summer, not winter) can't wait to hear more :)

No, luckily, by the Sunday morning her temperature had gone and she was absolutely fine! Think the Disney magic definitely worked there!

I think the DLH would also make a great base for the summer time - especially due to the long park hours. Although, I think the pool isn't as a good as some of the other onsite hotels, so I might be tempted to book SQL for a summer break just for that reason!

Sounds like you had a fab trip :)
We stay in that travelodge quite often, the train noise can be really bad I have been woken when they are fixing the lines with a very loud bang lol.
I alway ring and ask for a inside room now but they can be very hot in the summer. Its cheap though only cost me £211 4 night b&b in august.

Glad you had a good time! What exactly is the new security measures please, how has the layout changed? It does sound good not having to queue up for them to rummage through bags every morning!

I'm not sure how new these changes actually are. They are new to me, as it's all changed since i was last there in June. Since the World of Disney store opened, they have now moved the security so that you now only have one lot of security to go to to get to the Village and/or the Parks. This means you can move freely between the three without having to redo the baggage checks.

Hi!

Sounds like you've had a brill time. We are off to DLH in May, and will be there for my twin daughters 7th birthday. Did you do anything special for her birthday (other than being at Disney, which is about as special as it gets really)?

We had planned to do Inventions on our last night as her special birthday treat, but she decided she didn't want to! :confused3 So we ended up going to Rainforest Cafe instead!

She wore her birthday badge all day (although her actual birthday isn't until tomorrow!) and got lots of happy birthdays from characters and CMs.

I'm sure you'll all have a great time - as you say, just being in Disney is about as special as you can get for a birthday treat! :goodvibes

So pleased that you got off without any hitches and that DD stayed chickenpox free for your trip. Sounds like a good trip :thumbsup2
