For future holidaymakers to Florida, here's what I recommend ahead of the rest.

The Serengeti Safari is Busch Gardens!!! - Yes, it costs a lot, but honestly, it was the highlight of our vacation. You get half an hour on the back of an open safari truck and a guided tour which takes you through the plains in where you see rhino, zebra, antelope and other types of animal and get to feed giraffes for a good 10-15 minutes. Seriously, to see and have four giraffe around you in where you can feed them leaves and apples and even pet them is the ultimate experience.

Some of you who have been to Florida or are going will be looking forward to feeding the dolphins at Sea World, which is also a superb experience, but it has to be second to doing this in Tampa.

There's a package where afterwards you get to have a meal in the Rose Crown Colony Restaurant (the one upstairs and not downstairs)... The meal is fantastic and the setting feels like you've gone back 120 years with the view of the animals in the African Plains in the distant.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time and if you have a real animal lover it would be the ultimate vacation must do.

Thanks for the review we have booked this for our trip :)
But not Crown Colony Restaurant, is upstairs the nice bit?
Can you book just a table when you arrive?

  Thanks for the review it sounds really good. We want to do this when we go in april, i saw the number for reservations on the link someone posted but does anyone know how far in advance you can book this tour? I'm looking forward to being able to feed the giraffes! :)

Interesting...Woburn Safari Park used to do this for £5 a head. We had a great time feeding the Giraffes with their long, blue, rough tongues. Rhinos "charging" the vehicle etc. :thumbsup2

....then they stopped it. Most people too "tight" to stump up the money for their 45 minute experience. :sad2:

I think personally you should book the restaurant in advance and yes, it is the upstairs bit.

We had ordered our food downstairs at first by mistake before being told it was the restaurant above. However, the one downstairs isn't all that bad and the food looked reasonably good.

Upstairs mind you is extra special. It has that feel good factor, there's an old guy who plays at the piano throughout and to just keep looking out of the window at the animals on the African plains is great. However, you can sit outside on the balcony, but we declined as the weather despite being humid was stormy overhead.
