Highlights of the 2015 Food and Wine Festival

Nice job Steve, thanx for your report. And, while I don't drink at all, F&W is still one of my fave evnts to do, as you mentioned. And God knows - I LOVE to eat! :)

We hit the "preview" day on Thursday afternoon and enjoyed ourselves. We've been to F&W just about every year since it started. They just keep getting better!

Excellent article, Stephen! A great summary for those who have always wondered what F&W was all about and a perfect springboard for them to go dig a little further and find out more. Great tip about going a bit later in the season for better touring weather. And anyone who gets Canada's "baby" filet mignon at F&W is good in my books! :-) A good way to sample some of Le Cellier's iconic treats without breaking the bank or dealing with nasty seating. Now, if you could just grab a Unibroue at the nearby kiosk you would be Golden. Note: that's a "you knee brew" not a "you knee brow". Nobody needs a uni-brow in the World. Noo-body. Kind of like the Hoegaarden beer challenge. If you can pronounce it, you can drink it. For those who are unsure, that's a "whoo garden" not the unfortunate alternative. Just remember for 1) Canada brew: its Universal that everyone loves a (good) Brew and 2) Belgium beer: its that darn owl in the garden (again).:-)

I was there this weekend and I sadly have to say this first weekend was problematic. Not factoring in the oppressive sun and random storms which Disney can't control. There was a constant problem with booths running out of food. When I walked by the Cheese Studio on Saturday about 11:30 they were out of the cheese plate and fondue (2 of their 3 offerings). This theme of booths running out was a problem throughout Saturday, people would wait in a long line only to be told "We are out of that come back later" at the register not before getting in line. Some lines were also very mismanaged. The Chew Lab, as an example, the line to get the food backed up so much that it blocked people from getting to the registers. I heard the Craft Beer line was equally a mess. All this could of been just due to unexpected crowd sizes on Saturday. Sunday was better with more normal crowd levels. The east side walk way of Spaceship Earth was jammed Fri/Sat/Sun due to passholders getting their stamps/glasses. Hopefully they work out these kinks before the marathon weekend.

Good summary write up Steve!

I've been to this event a few times and the number 1 tip I can give is to try and avoid going on the weekend - specifically Friday evening and Saturday. The line that is 40mins+ on Saturday could be walk up mid-week.

Also agree the beer portion size has gotten too small (or at least larger options should still be available)

I had seen other places about booths running out of food. Not excusable. So sorry you had to deal with that. :(

MaxRebo - Yes, I agree - I have always avoided it during the weekends. And since the weather is more comfortable for me, I always go near the end of the festival as well - but not the last week, which always seems more crowded as well.
