Day 11 Sunday 9th July Weather Very warm/sunny beautiful day
Up at 7:30am after a great nights sleep, very comfy beds, I put on the coffee maker and enjoy a cup of coffee while the tribe sleep on, about 9am I head off in search of breakfast for the tribe, there's a small café just below our building, so I get a selection of cereals, milk, pastries, juices ($21) and take it back to the room, so the tribe enjoy their breakie then we pack up and check out of the PBH, or rather I check out DW and kids walk on to HRH, the walk to HRH only takes 5 mins so DW and kids are waiting in lobby when I arrive, when I check in the clerk wishes me a happy anniversary and says he's arranged for something to be delivered later in day, totally different from PBH, we are issued with our key cards but as its only 10am the rooms not ready yet, the clerk notes I have a Cabana hired for today and says I should get a good discount as we are staying club level, when I had over my debit card and advise I'll be paying cash the clerk asks if I'd rather pay now and that way he doesn't have to charge my card, not exactly a problem as it will save time later so $330 poorer we dump luggage at luggage services, and head off to fitness room to get Cabana. As we've been here before it only takes a few minutes to get there, last time took a little longer as we did get lost, the guy at the fitness centre wants $150 for our themed Cabana but I ask about discount for club guests?, he advisee's me that you only get discount on standard Cabanas but when I say I was just told again about discount checking in he gives me the Cabana for $67, we head to the Cabana its the yellow submarine one number 7.
We get settled in our Cabana, although at first the TV isn't working or the fridge, but after checking connections at back I get fridge working but not the TV, so I have to call fitness centre to report this problem, takes ages for phone to be answered and after 30mins still no one had come, now although not a major issue as I only wanted TV for the game later, still not great service, as its now after 11am the bar staff are working so they get someone to fix problem with 10mins TV is working and ready for the world cup final, the themed Cabana gets you 6 cans of juice and 2 bottle's of water plus a refill later in day, also a basket of fruit,
plus floats for the pool, I'm hoping Mark from the Dibb can make it today with his family so we make sure we have plenty of towels plus I chill the vodka in the fridge, having the Cabana is great as we can relax in the shade when we've had too much sun plus the bar staff made sure we had a bucket of ice and kept replacing it as it melted, the location of no7 is good its at the baby pool area so there are not a lot of people walking back and forwards, although I did end up playing ball with some of the kids.
Around 1pm we head off to HRC for lunch using the free vouchers from Virgin, and guess who had left the vouchers in the Cabana yep me, so I walk back to get the voucher, now a few have said these vouchers are not worth it but have to disagree we could choose from about 6 entrees, plus any soft drink incl refills, tax and tip thats $60 we saved on lunch, also I must say service was good DW and kids had chicken Fajitas, I had the Cajun chicken topped with cheese and fries, after lunch we took some pictures of the memorabilia on the walls plus everyone got a souvenir from the shop as I hadn't paid for lunch, may have been cheaper paying for lunch,
We got back to Cabana just as game was starting so we never missed the goal luckily enough, I checked to see if Mark had left a message but there was none, so I had to crack open that vodka alone, ( have spoken to Mark since and he was put on hold for 15mins, don't blame him for giving up), while me and son watched the game DW went to check on room and it was ready, so she got the luggage sent up and sorted the clothes etc,
at half time I got the kids cones from emacks for desert. After the game I went to have a look at the room and I must admit it was very nice room 7017, at 5pm we left the Cabana and went up to the lounge for the snacks, the food on offer was chicken skewers', chicken pieces etc a bit spicy but we liked it and actually with having lunch it done as a meal for us, I also had a couple of coronas and two glasses of white zinfandel, the soft drinks where in a chill cabinet with bottled water and you just helped yourselves throughout the day to them, we did take some back to room to enjoy in privacy at around 6:30pm there was a knock at the door and it was an anniversary gift of a bottle of white wine plus a card wishing us a happy anniversary,
the card was very thoughtful we thought and at 7pm when drink was coming off they offered more beer etc for the room, we headed back to Cabana and stayed there till 8:30pm then we packed up for night,
kids wanted hot chocolate, cookies and bed, so of we headed to the lounge where DS had a mountain of cookies plus two hot chocolates, everyone watched some TV before bed, only complaint of room the beds where very uncomfortable.
