Highland Park shooting: Suspect considered second attack

A man accused of opening fire on a 4 July parade near Chicago contemplated a second attack on the day of the deadly shooting, authorities have said.

According to police, the 21-year-old suspect drove to Wisconsin after the shooting, which left seven dead and dozens wounded.

There, he saw another Independence Day celebration and allegedly considered attacking it.

Starting to wonder if there is some unnamed diagnosis for whatever is going on in the minds of all these people. There is no way these humans have healthy minds and yet they are consistently being missed so what on earth is it that is not being being picked up in schools, at the pediatrician etc? I refuse to accept these are people who are healthy up until this point, there is no way. Is there some unidentified biochemical imbalance, a birth defect, an illness, congenital STD, triggered by abuse, there is plainly something going on that is new to the population or at least more frequent as time goes on? It's like a social dementia or something that causes a complete break.

It’s not unnamed. It’s narcissism, sociopathology/psychopathology. Imo the prevalence is due to the internet & access to certain types of weapons that can cause mass destruction quickly.

The sad part about the 4th of July shooter his issues weren’t missed. He had 2 prior instances with law enforcement, he apparently attempted suicide using a machete and he threatened to kill his family members. The police took away his collection of knives but returned them because the father claimed they were his.
His parents enabled his behavior, made excuses and didn’t pursue any action that would have kept weapons out of his hands and went as far as signing for him to get a firearm permit. After he tried to kill himself and threatened to kill other people.
They knew he had mental health issues. The police knew he had mental health issues.
There is something very wrong with that whole family. I hope the father is held accountable for signing for that permit.
