High School Superlatives

My oldest son just entered High School this year and is on the Freshman football team - we got to chatting with some of the other parents on how did this happen so quickly as it seems like just yesterday we were in high school - and he's about a year away from the age his mother and I met during high school. Kinda makes me want to pass out.

Anyway, during the conversation we got to chatting about senior superlatives and the funny things people thought about us then versus how we turned out as adults. Figured it might make for a fun DIS chat.

So, what were you awarded in title as a senior superlative and did you acheive the infamy we all thought we would as high school seniors?! :goodvibes

"Best Dressed." I dressed in early '70s fashion, and made a lot of stuff myself. I lived up to it until I had my first child (When I was out of college and single, I went shopping EVERY DAY after work) and wanted desperately not to work. I quit buying clothes almost totally and have never gone back to it. I also used to sew a lot and just don't have the patience for it any more.

Interestingly, both of my older sons got "Most Unique." The older is nerdy and pretty different while the younger one was probably the coolest kid in his school! It's hard to convey how different they are from each other.

I received two superlatives in high school.

Quietest: People who didn't know me in high school are stunned when I tell them I was the quietest of my high school class. I run my mouth constantly and sometimes don't know when to shut up. I guess I am making up for all the time I didn't talk in high school.

Most likely to succeed: I was very surprised with this one-I had just been awarded a scholarship to college when the voting for superlatives happened, so I guess that put the idea in my classmates heads. I consider myself successful, I have a great life; but you're not likely to see my picture on the color of Forbes or Time.

The saying under my picture chosen by the Yearbook kids was "It's not what you are doing, but what you are caught doing that matters. I became a cop.:rolleyes1

hehe I like that! It reminds of the line in A Christmas Story where Ralphie says, "Kids know it's always best not to get caught." :rotfl: So true!!

Even though I got the most votes for it, I was not awarded because I was not in the "popular clique" (who ran the yearbook) and they gave it to someone else.

For what it's worth, though, I was...

Biggest Threat to Pedestrians :car: :drive:

(I've since changed my ways.)

I was "Most Spirited!" :cheer2: Yes, I was a cheerleader and captain LOL!! It was fun at the time...

We didn't have those in high school. I was awarded "shyest" in junior high though. I am SO not shy now!

I was "The smartest." I'll take that!

In college, some of the superlatives were cruel. One was "most likely to get a sex change operation." The Dean put a stop to that one before it could be announced.
