High School Musical on Ice Was Lots of Fun!

 I am glad to hear that it is so good. We bought tickets several months ago presale and were hoping the kids wouldn't be over the high school musical fix yet. I think our tickets are in March so I can't wait to see it. Thanks for the info.:cool1:

Thanks Cinderella123! We are going to the one in Hampton, VA. I have spoken with several friends who have gone and said it is great!! My DD10 woke up this morning super excited so I hope school goes OK today!

My SIL lives in Little Rock and just got her DD tickets for the April show! Her birthday is in March so it is a perfect Bday gift!!

Here's hoping I don't go broke on souvenirs!

You might. haha. They have so many souvenirs at the show. There's really a wide variety there.

The show itsself is realyy good. I would have to say that the better numbers in the show are in the second half. I don't know why I think that, but I do. My favorite number from the show is "I Don't Dance". It was really really good, and when you go, you'll see why. My friend Adam keeps telling me to this day that he thinks the most challenging number from the show for him is Bop to the Top. It's always changing. But the coolest "trick" in the show comes at the end in "All For One" when this other guy named Adam (he is going to be skating in a light purple shirt and has black hair) does a backflip on the ice. He's in the East Coast touring cast too, so you'll deffinitely get to see that.

As for your daughter, school today will probably go by really fast for her. I know she'll love the show.

Where are your seats?
Is there anything you'd like to know about the show? I can answer them for you.

By the way, here's a video that I made for my friend Adam that I gave to him when I went to see him perform the second time. The performance pics are from opening night. tell me what you think.

A lot of the cast (well, atleast the East Coast cast) look like their character. Here's a graphic that M_I_C_K_E_Y made for me to put on a shirt that I am making for my friend Adam so you can see what I'm talking about.

What do you think?

Sailorwife, you'll have to post a review of the show and what you think about it as soon as you get home tonight.!!

:thumbsup2

Here's pics of the rest of the East Coast cast.

They do kind of look like their characters.

It's: Troy, Gabriella, Taylor, and then Chad

Hope you like these pics. What's your opinion?

Thanks so much for the review & pictures!

I'm so excited as DD is! We got the tickets for Chicago in January a LONG time ago -- I think when they came out as soon as I could get my hands on them.

We went to the concert and that was sold out! I wasn't going to jump through the hoops I did for that one again (we took friends).

I hope the seats will work out OK with being able to see. We are down on the floor section so if people are standing up it might make it more difficult to see. :scared1: We shall see what happens. We will have a good time no matter what though.

We thought about getting the same type seats we got for the concert because DD didn't want floor, she wanted a bit elevated. We debated for this one too but thought being an ice show, floor would be good. I'm hoping that wasn't a mistake now.

This time it will just be DD & myself. She used to do figure skating, so loves to go see ice shows, add HSM to it and  PLUS she kept saying she wants to see if/how in the world they would do basketballs on ice.

I did ask her if she wanted to see any of the videos that are out or a surprise & she said "surprise"!

I do want to make sure we get a t-shirt this time around -- long story short we weren't able to get a t-shirt at the concert. I'm assuming they are selling t-shirts right? Don't they *always* sell t-shirts at these things? :lmao:

Yes. They have lots of TShirts. They have all these different colored ones that they sell that say "High School Musical: The ICe Tour" on them. They sell the infamous "I Majored in Vacation" shirt that Chad wears in the 2nd movie. They also have black High School Musical: The Ice Tour jackets that are pretty cool. They're child sized. From what I remember, the sizes start at girls' size 10-12 and they deffinitely go up to 18 - 20. I'm 18 years old, and I bought a size 18 - 20 jacket and it fits me perfectly. They've got other stuff like headsets, pom poms, megaphones, cups, programs (although I wouldn't buy the program if you're looking for pics from the Ice Tour), dolls, and a few more things.

Do you want to know how they do the basketballs? I can certainly tell you if you want.

Any more questions?

They have DOLLS? What dolls do they have? Are they the same Barbie type ones we see in the stores or are they something unique to the ice show? Yes, I know my DD is 13 almost 14 but she went and spent her own money on the Barbie dolls & is asking Santa for the other ones (she only had enough for 1). Cool about the jackets -- how much do they run $$ wise?

I learned my lesson a long time ago with NOT buyin DD a "Boo" doll when they had Monsters, Inc. on ice. I thought maybe we could find something similar since we were heading down to Disney and we never have found anything like it. I didn't have enough $$ to buy it at the time or I probably would have (we went with the Girl Scout troop so it was a different set-up). She STILL reminds me of that Boo doll to this day since we haven't ever found one and that was *years* ago. At least she gave me a pass on the concert shirts because I would have bought that but they didn't have the one she wanted in her size. I will have extreme mommy guilt if somehow we don't at *least* get a t-shirt from this show & I will probably end up with other things too just because well....just because. :lmao:

I went and watched more You-tube videos and saw the basketball number although if there is a "trick" to it that you know I would love to know about it! ;) I know it's got to be hard to manage those things on ice.

Yes. They had a doll. It's a barbie doll type doll. Nothing like a soft sort of something doll. It kind of looked like a Sharpay doll, but it was wearing either (i think, atleast) a gym outfit or a cheerleading uniform. It wasn't like the ones I had seen in the store before.

I also remember them having these glittery hats that had

The jackets are $45. But they're really comfortable. They could have been more expensive (considering the fact that it is Disney and how popular High School Musical is).

The basketballs drop from the ceiling. Did you know that? But if you sit there and watch the video, you'll notice that they don't really bounce the ball that much, and when they do, it doesn't really go too high (except for the beginning when it initially comes down). That's because if the ball is cold, something happens with energy (or something like that) to make it not bounce that high. The bounces weren't as low as they could have been, but then again, it was a really short number. If it was hotter, they probably would have bounced it more. But if that happened, then the ice might have melted. haha

The program is $12, but I wouldn't buy it if I were you.

By the way, where exactly are your floor seats? I have had floor seats to all of the High School Musical: THe Ice TOur shows that I've been to so far (one of which I payed for myself, and the rest I got from my friend). I can probably give you a pretty good idea of where they are and how they're set up.

Anything else about the show you want to know?

:thumbsup2 We just got home from the ice show and we had a great time!! We even got out of the parking lot in record time!!

We had seats in the 2nd row in the first section on the side. They were very good! My DD kept saying "Thank you! This was a great idea!" We were seated a little early and the usher gave the girls "Fabulos" signs. I did not see any other signs. I think I spent about $50 before we ever even sat down!!

The skaters were very good. The skater playing Gabrella fell a couple times but covered very nicely. I can't imagine how difficult the whole thing was so I can't say anything bad about her falling. The Ryan skater played his role to a tee. He is my favorite character in the movie anyway!! The part when they strip Troy of his shirt had everyone screaming. I am sure there were some Moms screaming too!!

It was a great night. They had a ton of t-shirts and Barbie dols in wildcat cheerleader costumes. The one thing all the girls (mine included) had to have was this head set with a fake microphone. They all had them and you could hear them all singing. They never missed a word!! The headset was $8 and you could get cotton candy with a hat for $10. Those are two great keepsakes!! We of course had to have a program and our picture taken with a cut out of Troy!

Cinderella123, tell you friends they did an awesome job!! It was well worth it!!

I'm glad you liked the show. I will be sure to tell Adam (Ryan) when he calls me tomorrow how much you liked the show and how well you think he did. Adam is in the program. He's also in the video on the High School Musical: The Ice Tour website. What'd you think of the guy (who's name also happens to be Adam) that did the backflip on the ice in "All For One"? I think that that was pretty amazing. Can you imagine that that Adam who did the flip is only 18 years old?

I've also talked to Brad once. He's pretty cool.

What else did you like?

Thank you!! I can't wait to see the backflip!!! (just edited to add -- I'll probably have a heart attack watching that, while holding my breathe until it's done! due to our background with knowing about the falls in both skating & gymnastics!) DD is going to go nuts! She's a gymnast too -- so basically ice skating & tumbling added together can't get better than that! That's one reason she gave up skating for gymnastics (well..not really we couldn't afford to do both & she kept being good in both, so I had to make a decision. I was *hoping* she would get tired of one but that never happened. She does keep asking to go back occasionally but she doesn't have time to add anything more to her schedule!).

Our seats are in section 8.

Is it at Allstate Arena?

There's a small section (section 2) right in front of yours. But pretty much any seat that you sit in for this show is a good seat. In all of the shows I've been to so far, even the ice seats were on a little bit of a level.

I wouldn't tell her about the backflip just yet or get too excited about it. I was just thinking and just realized that the East Coast cast probably won't be in the Chicago show. That'll probably be the West Coast cast. The reason why I say that is because thay same weekend of the Rosemont show, there's a show in Syracuse, NY, and the East Coast cast will most likely be there. No one in the West Coast cast does a backflip. I know that because in addition to seeing 5 shows of the East Coast cast, I have also been to one of the West coast tour shows in Tampa. They are doing a few over here before they head over to LA next week.

Just thought I should let you know of that before hand. Jope I didn't rain on your parade too much.
:sad1:

Yes, it's at the Allsate Arena. I'm assuming the section in front of us were the "front row ice" ones ;)

No raining on my parade. That's OK. I just thought it would be awesome to see but since I had no idea it was even in there in the first place for any show, no issues. I'm not telling DD anything since she doesn't want to know. I did tell her about the dolls, etc... but since she doesn't want to actually see any sneak peak videos that are out now, I didn't think to tell her about that.

On the plus side, if there is no backflip I don't have to have a heart attack, hold breathe make sure the flip gets landed with no issues ;)

haha. Yeah. You're right about that. Although, he has landed the back flip every time beautifully.

I just found this video on youtube. It's an advertisement for the show at Madison Square Garden (West Coast cast), but the skaters in the video are actually the East Coast cast. That means that Adam is the Ryan in this video.

It gives you a good idea of what the show is all about.
