What can I get for the son of someone I used to work with? We don't see each other but I do like the family. Their son is graduating from high school and my daughter and I are invited to their house for lunch.
How about gift certificates to a local movie theater? If he is heading off to college he maybe trying to save as much money as possible over the summer.
Well as a college kid one of those crates works with everything. Basic black is easy, or whatever his college colors are. Put a few items in there like TP, ramen noodles, popcorn, garbage bags...just stuff he may need to get going.
phone cards are usually good..or actually......I have given gas cards.....although, you can't get much for your money nowadays........but I do think that would be a good idea.....
Anything they can use at college!! (I'm assuming he's going?)
My mom put together a 'shower basket' for me...a caddy with soaps/shampoo/razor/etc and cheapie flip flops (common bathrooms - joy!)
also - gift cards to Linens-n-things or Bed Bath and Beyond are good (those twin X-long sheets are HARD to find sometimes!) Plus you can get a ton of 'dorm' stuff there (towels and such)
Money of course is always helpful (I know the third one goes off to college this Fall!). But one gift that my second son got that was helpful was a gift card to Borders. They always need books. If you know what college he's going to a t-shirt or something with the college Logo is a thought.
