HAS ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT INTERNATIONAL DRIVE BEING A HIGH CRIME AREA?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
THAT IS WHERE WE ARE STAYING FOR A WK...
I HAVE NOT HEARD THAT BEFORE UNTIL TODAY.
ANY INFO WILL BE HELPFUL..

I haven't heard of it being a "High Crime" area, but anywhere where you have many tourists can be a crime area. Just watch your purse, wallet etc.... always look like you know where you are going (even if you don't) and you should be ok. Never open your hotel door to anyone, unless you are expecting them (and even then, verify who they are). To me a "High Crime" area is drive by shooting & drug deals......there really isn't any of that on International Drive. You need to steer clear of people selling a "used" theme park pass....that is how you can get ripped off easy. Always purchase your pass thru a reputable place (theme park, hotel etc....) Hope this helps you..... and have a great time!:)

I-Drive isn't a really crime-ridden area. Crime tends to be a bit higher in Orlando because of tourists. Some tourists tend to leave their hotel room doors unlocked, carry lots of $, etc. that make them easier targets.

A "red light" area that I've heard of is Orange Blossom Trail north of the Florida Mall. Avoid that area as best you can, especially at night!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO,,,I FEEL BETTER ALREADY.
ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL? IS THAT KIND OF CLOSE TO UNIVERSAL? WHAT IS IT CLOSE TO? I WILL STAY AWAY FROM THERE!
THANKS!

The reason that many people consider Int'l Drive High crime is because there are robberies...mostly B&E due to the large tourist population with easily pawnable items like cameras, videocamera, etc.

The only other area I warn people to be wary of is the McDonalds on International Drive and Sand Lake and even then only late at night since they have had a number of incidents of people being arrested for selling drugs.

I am also interested in this ? about crime on I-drive, I have never heard of it as being "high crime". I will be staying at the Sheraton Vistana Villages, would love any info on the safety of the I-ride trolley, we will be using this quite a bit to get back and forth to sea world.
Thanks!

Orange Blossom Trail runs between 192 and W.H 50. It in not near Universal. The only thing to go in that are for is the Florida Mall at Orange Blossom and Sandlake road.

Hope this helps
