I saw the post for flat feet and I have the opposite problem. I have high arches and my feet ache after being on them a few hours. I have never been able to wear heels or even those dressy black boots with even a kitten heel. My feet just hurt so bad:sad2:

So are there anyone else out there with high arches and what shoes do you wear and any tips on what to use.

I bought a pair of Merrill Flip flops years ago and they had some arch support an were awesome, they broke and I haven't been able to find another pair:mad: I bought a pair of clarks flip flop this year and they have a little support but I couldn't walk with them all day.

Dr. Scholls has an arch support insert I used with heels for a wedding I was in and it did help so that is something I will keep in mind for future use.

But what great walking sandals have you found.

High arches here. I have been buying SAS sandals for a number of years. I am wearing a pair now! They are leather with a rubber sole. I find can walk a good distance in them, they have some arch support built in. I also like that there are 3 straps that can be adjusted for fit. They are not cheap--around $75-$90 a pair, but they are a lot cheaper than the high-end brands like Mephisto.
I also wear SAS shoes a lot--there is a running shoe (walking) style with velcro closures, and a lace up loafer that I like. They both cost about $175-$200 a pair.
Unfortunately, I can never get a satisfactory fit in less expensive shoes/sandals. I find that with high arches, I need a really good fit and if possible good ankle support so that my feet don't tire out. I've never worn Crocs--with my feet, I don't think they would be comfortable.

I also have high arches and arthritis in both ankles which means the pain shots down the tops of my feet. I discovered crocs a few years ago and not had any problems since then. I only wear crocs at disney. I know they are ugle but not having foot pain is worth it. try them.

I have high arches. I like Naot, Teva Mush, some Reefs, Soft Spot, and Sofft.

I had never heard of Naot's until a friend suggested them. I wore them all over Europe for three weeks and they were great. They form to your foot and have great arch support.

I have a splinter in my foot that I cannot get out. All I can wear is my Teva Mush sandals and they are brand new. I can't even feel the splinter when I'm wearing them!!!

I have very high arches AND recently developed plantar fasciitis. On our first WDW visit I wore Crocs and because of the lack of arch support I ended up breaking a bone in my foot which took months to heal. Crocs are completely out for me, as is anything without arch support. I am really scared because we have a trip coming up in August and I still don't have anything I can wear. I am running out of time. I am thinking I will have to wear some sort of athletic shoe but I will definitely need inserts.

Anyway, I don't have any suggestions, but I did want to warn you regarding Crocs. DH and DS LOVE them, but they don't have the horribly high arches I do. DH has normal arches and DS has flat feet.

I, too, have high arches and plantar fascia problems if I wear shoes without support. Keen sandals with a back strap have been wonderful for me. They are a litttle pricey and my DH doesn't like the look of them but my feet love them. If you have a Nordstrom Rack in your area, they usually have Keens. My podiatrist has highly advised me to only wear sandals with back straps as they provide more support. I do use orthotics in my athletic shoes but my Keens are so comfortable, I prefer them.

Add me to the list! I have an appt to see a podiatrist bc I have been having arch pain bad lately ( I just moved, so lots of pressure on these feet!)

Last trip I lived in my FitFlops!Although I did wear Crocs Athens to the pool. I am going for a professional sneaker fitting for my bday present from DH though bc I like to alternate so I get ankle support from a sneaker too.

I have the same problem and I love Mephisto sandals. They are a bit expensive but last for a long time.

I have very high arches and after years of wearing my sneakers and having my feet KILLING me after a day at the park I discovered Teva mush flip flops:lovestruc They are soo comfortable!! In fact I can't wear anything else at the parks anymore. I brought my crocs last year but I just wound up switching back to my Tevas. I have about 5 pairs now...my feet are in heaven!!!

I have found that Merrill and Chaco sandals offer me the most arch support. But I wear running shoes with orthotic inserts if I know I'm going to be doing a lot of walking. I wore the Chacos to MK for an evening, but probably wouldn't wear them all day.

I have high arches and PF and crocs just make my feet hurt. After the suggestion of someone on this forum, I tried Merrill's - I love them! We are also heading down in Aug. and I was really concerned about what I was going to wear. I have been wearing my Merrill's for a couple of weeks now and my feet don't hurt all day. I take them off and walk around the house barefoot and I'm in pain again. If there is a Marshalls or TJMaxx near you I found them pretty inexpensive there. The key is to get the right fit or the arch won't sit in the right place and then your feet will really hurt! My Keens don't sit in the right place and I can't wear them more than an hour without pain. I am usually not a shoe thong person but I like the toe ring type sandals from Merrill and I am going to try the Teva Mush - just to have some variety. Just ordered the Mushes so I will let you know.

Good luck finding something comfortable!

Birkenstock sandals or clogs- they have different insoles,I LOVELOVELOVE the high arch models......I can stand/walk for hours with no issues with these- I also love Crocs -they mold to the shape of your foot very quickly, and for me,that means HIGH arches, so they quickly develop the support I need- I can wear modest heels, but they're not comfortable for very long.
Crocs and Birkenstocks!:thumbsup2

Another vote for Chacos - love them!

I have no arch - but Plantar Fascitis - and I can't wear shoes that don't have a high arch support... so I've found Chacos, Orthaheels and Olu Kai brands to be the best.

Look for shoes/flipflops with an EVA footbed - those are the ones with the high molded arches.

I hope you find something that works for you! Nothing worse than foot problems!
