Hello everyone! As you can see in my signature I am becoming a wife next year. I have very limited cooking experience and expertise. What makes it harder is that we live at 9000 feet. Any cooking tips for us folks way up here?

This is something with which I have no experience, but I was searching for info for you because of the crockpot thread. (Google: crock pot altitude...) Hopefully someone with real life experience will be able to answer you, but in the meantime I thought the article here might be of some help. I never knew most of the things it said! http://ezinearticles.com/?Cooking-In-Higher-Altitude-Air&id=223804

And another good one for general cooking (Google: cooking altitude adjustment) http://www.thecookinginn.com/haltitude.html

Good luck!

I am cooking at about 7200 in the summer and about 6500 at home in Littleton and don't really have any high altitude problems. All box mixes and some recipes require alterations to the recipe but I seldom do it. It sure takes a long time to boil water however. Don't fret, you will be fine! BTW, CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks! I guess I just need more practice. I follow the directions but somehow it still doesn't like me. Too bad my fiance will have to endure some bad dishes before the good ones start coming!

I would think that at 10,000 ft you would have some problems. Don't beat yourself up. I think that high up it has to be trial and error.

The recipes on the Betty Crocker site have high altitude adjustments. Still, I bet you have great views!
