Now that the first of the year has come and gone, I feel like I can truly start planning in earnest for our April 2013 trip 
We have been once before in April 2010 for our younger daughter's MAW trip, and the girls have been begging to go back ever since, so here we are.
First, a couple of introductions...
Me - I'm Kelly, high school English teacher, mom, nurse, cruise director, etc.
Garth - My husband, formerly a high school special education teacher and about to be an elementary behavior specialist, dad, fixer of things extraordinaire, etc.
Maya - Our older daughter, little athlete, social butterfly, and drama queen.
Ali - Our younger daughter, bookworm, sensitive, resilient.
Maya is in the blue, and Ali is in the pink and orange.
We are so grateful to have the opportunity to be returning. When we went on Ali's Wish Trip three years ago, we weren't sure that she would still be with us today. She has mitochondrial disease and was really struggling with infection control, which caused significant setbacks with her overall health. At one point, her metabolic doctor bluntly told us, "If we continue on this path, she will not survive." Thanks to her amazing immunologist, we were able to get her approved for gamma globulin (immune properties found in blood) infusions, which have turned her life around. She still struggles in several areas, but as long as we keep the infections at bay, she overall does very well. So I guess this trip is a celebration of sorts.
We cannot wait!
