Hide the rum, the 2007 Bad Girl Adventures have begun....Spirit of Aloha New Pg 2!

Friday February 2nd, 2007 ~ Groundhog Day! ---- and I hate that movie…hate, hate, hate it!

Today was MGM --- not sure why, other than we had ADR’s for Sci-Fi Dine in for lunch. You know, if I was single, I could be up and out in a flash….however, I have to get three others up and dressed by myself. And every now and then there are fleeting thoughts of adding another?:confused3

NO….V, NO ---- DON’T DO IT!

So not unlike any other day, they slept in a bit ~ I poked, prodded, dressed and pushed them out the door…..we left CBR around 10:30 am….you may be wondering if I fed them…

well of course not,

it was almost lunchtime silly…why waste your appetite on breakfast? Unless ---- this is Palo brunch…which my Charming can tell you all about.

In detail.

Four hour detail as he dined for the full four hours they are open for brunch….but that is a cruise happening and will be in my commandeering thread.

So we arrived at MGM around 10:40 and were directed to the Stage parking area….did we tram? Ugh, no, we walked in the mist to the ticket booths….and got through the gates and headed for Sci-Fi passing the hat of course and this was one of the rare times we have actually witnessed nary a character at the hat. Not a one!

Looked for a dry area for the stroller and checked into Sci Fi. A few other families were checking in and we had about a five minute wait. Not finding a dry spot we chose to bring the stroller in with us and park it in front of our car.

We got a car in the VERY front!! A new one for us! (I think). The Bad Girls were in the front seat and Charming in the back….I can’t help but wonder if this makes him reminisce of his youth….

anyway, if you have been reading you can probably guess the drinks…for the girls at least….

milk and Sprite….

Charming decided upon a strawberry shake…
IMG_3897.jpg

me, well, it IS 5 o’clock somewhere, so I went with my Buena Vista Chardonnay.

Charming had the Reuben ~ Corned Beef, Sauerkraut, Swiss Cheese, Thousand Island Dressing on Marble rye Texas Toast, served with Fries and a Pickle Spear…which he devoured, but in all honesty he’ll eat just about anything.

IMG_3900.jpg

Samantha had a “Kid’s Pick” hamburger with fries and cinnamon apples…the fries were the side and the apples were the dessert….i.e. no sundae which is no problem, we don’t normally get dessert anyway. (the fries were a substitute for the carrots/celery...GREAT trade in my opinion!)

IMG_3901.jpg

a first for me, I had the Turkey Sandwich ~ Smoked Turkey, Swiss Cheese, Arugula, Plum Tomatoes with Mustard-Mayonnaise on Multigrain Bread, served with cucumber melon salad.

IMG_3902.jpg

Yuck is about all I can muster for this meal. The bread is refrigerated and really not very good. The salad was ok but the Chard and the pickle were the best part of my meal.

Haley shared a bit of everything but really….we need to order two kid’s meals just for peace ---- believe me, it is worth the $5-$10!

Then the waitress brought out a birthday card for Haley along with a birthday sundae and a candle!! We all sung Happy Birthday and made wishes! (yes, I make wishes too ~ why not?!)

IMG_3903.jpg

IMG_3905.jpg

IMG_3906.jpg

IMG_3907.jpg

That was sooo sweet and she adored it. and devoured it, as did Samantha and Charming!

Sci-Fi….now I have never said they were gourmet, but we do like to go there. Why sitting in a car with a dashboard the width of a toilet lid excites me – who knows? They do play Tom and Jerry, and yes, I let my kids watch. Stick with liquor, burgers, fries and rings and you’ll be fine…

V,

Loving this TR! And all the pictures, of course. Your girls are adorable!!

I love, love, love the LTT for lunch. Never tried Sci Fi. Your report has not encouraged me!

Looking forward to reading more........

V,

Your kiddos are so cute!! I love your pictures and let me just say...you are a bad girl of my own heart. Have you ever read a TR and thought "now that is someone who knows how to BRING IT??"

Well...you do....you bring it and I think you would be SOOOO FUN to hang with at WDW!

I am glad you had a great time at the party, we will sadly miss it by 10 days

:(

carry on!!

:cheer2:

you're still in the debating phase over adding another sports fan to the family? I think a Charming Jr. would be adorable- but then you'll be resigned to the Family suites like us!
Lovin' the report- :cheer2:

We left Sci-Fi and luckily there was no downpour outside. Samantha wanted to drive a bit more, even though the three girls were awarded with “licenses” in the restaurant.

IMG_3909.jpg

We took a right outside the restaurant on whatever that road is called…walking toward Lights Motors Action! with no real plan on anything. Which often disturbs me to no end. I mean, I pour over planning sites…where to go on what days, how to tour to hit the most rides and do we EVER do it?

No…wth, as long as a good time is had by all who gives a whoop, right?

Got to see Kirby, oops I mean Herbie….Samantha calls him Kirby….

IMG_3910.jpg

Had a weird issue here…no one was around and some lone man walks right up and leans against the car to get his photo while Charming and Samantha are posing…very rude – he was having a CM take his pic and I am not sure if there were further issues so I opted to just let him rudely butt in and we waited until he got his pic and we did ours.

Holy character pay dirt Robin! Left the bug and ran into the whole Toy Story cast….

Buzz…

Green Army Man…

IMG_3919.jpg

As we were making way to Woody the 3-D show let out and people RAN to get in line…we didn’t have to wait long though…

IMG_3923.jpg

IMG_3922.jpg

IMG_3920.jpg

We did ask the handler if “Andy” was indeed on Woody’s shoe and she had no clue what we were talking about…at all!

It was starting to mist at this point and the sky looked as though it could let loose at any minute. We decided to head back to our Jamaican paradise or better yet, the orange zone (as in air freshener) to rest up for the coming luau.

We stopped by guest services for a birthday button for Haley and we spoke with a fantastic CM who gave Samantha an Honorary Citizen button as well. She also went to the Pirate and Princess Party the night before, seems to be a CM party fest that night! ;) Before leaving Samantha requested to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid – so we turned back and happened to walk in just as they were being ushered in…talk about perfect timing. Very cute show, but for some reason I don’t recall the water scenes to be so, well, wet!

Made it back to the resort to find an unmade room….kind of bummed about that but should get used to it as we are renting DVC points in May and there will be no room make up then either ~ and no one was wanting to nap.

So I did the nicest thing possible….made it completely dark and I left Charming with the girls while I checked out the grounds and store. The building we were in was probably one of the closest, if not the closest, to the main building.

The pool area was pretty empty, a few people were at the bar but that was about it. I went in the store got a few goodies for the girls and walked around the food court before heading back to complete chaos. Seems Charming can sleep through anything, including two squealing girls wreaking havoc throughout the room.

Men.

Ughh – I decided a nice relaxing bath was in store. Too bad the door is not sound proof. Just as I was slinking down beneath the hot sudsy water…housekeeping knocked on the door. Charming simply got more towels and wash cloths. So I relaxed for oh, maybe five minutes…..got out, got everyone ready and we left around 4:30 for the Polynesian.

Not sure why, maybe buyer’s remorse but I was kind of hoping the “Spirit of Aloha” would be cancelled due to inclement weather. We’ve been previously, but it was around the time Samantha was 18 months old…so over two years ago. It was the same time frame Jan/Feb and the weather was about the same – very questionable.

Pulled up to the Polynesian Explorer style and valet parked.

Now Charming definitely doesn’t get the Poly Hype, but I love it there. To him, it’s an extension of Tropical Florida. Yet, he is always asking how big my bag is and if we have room for seeds…plant guy. I do love the theme, the plants, the sound of the rushing water, the lei’s – even though they are $3.99 a dozen at Oriental Trading.

Stopped to enjoy the scenery….
IMG_3926.jpg

And, yes, I know – an Ariel shirt with Aurora jeans. I have tried counseling Samantha in proper clothing etiquette…just isn’t clicking at this point.

Check in is a bit different than in years past. Before you checked in by the shop that is no more by Captain Cook’s and you were lei’d and led to Luau Cove…now you physically have to make it to Luau Cove on your own to check in. Upon arriving there were quite a few people milling about as well as a family who definitely loved the Colts – felt like Gainesville on Game Day – wrong colors of course…and hey, keeping it in the SEC, I love Peyton as well. And now, he gets to finally say – he beat a Gator!

We find that even making it there…you still have to wait to check it….my word – now that the seating is tiered and you pay for where you sit – I definitely advise to not arrive too early. There were people everywhere…then they want you to line up and wait to go through…really not a great system at all!

IMG_3928.jpg

IMG_3929.jpg

We were seated in an upper tier, behind a nice pile on…yeah, momma went cheap!
We could still see and it wasn’t a big deal.

Our waitress came by and took our drink order and I was quick to ask for white wine and if I could swipe a menu….wanted to keep my DIS’ers abreast of the offerings! Charming had beer and coke, the girls had Sprite.

Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

Appetizers ~ Pineapple Coconut Bread, Mixed Greens w/Mango Poppy Seed Dressing and Sweet Golden Pineapple

Main Course ~ BBQ Pork Ribs, Roasted Chicken, Polynesian Rice, Seasonal Veggies

Dessert ~ Kilaueau Volcano Delight

Complimentary Beverages ~ Bud, Bud Light, White – Red or Blush Wine. Soft drinks, coffee, tea and milk.

The mixed greens, bread and pineapple arrived promptly with the drinks…
IMG_3930.jpg

The salad was, eh, ok, at best – and remember no drug test after that poppy seed dressing! Pineapple bread was pretty much my dinner – so yes, that was yummy! Soft and warm...definitely delish! And pineapples, we grow pineapples, we love pineapples ~ they were the usual fare you'd find in the Publix produce department.

Our view of the stage…

IMG_3939.jpg

The main course was ok. Not liking me fingers dirty I am not a fan of eating with my fingers, ie ribs. The chicken – well for what we are paying I expect more than a 0.49 cent leg quarter…I don’t care how you marinate and serve it.

The show ---- same show as it was. Girl leaves for college…comes home different, guy falls in love…yadda, yadda, yadda.

The length of the show and how the meal is served just does not flow. Most of the show is a skit, talking parts, etc and they seem to hold off serving while this is going on and then “we’ll let you eat now” and no entertainment. Me, I would rather be eating and drinking while watching. Personal preferance really.

They call upon anyone who is celebrating anything to come to the stage. Charming and Haley go up front….
IMG_3945.jpg

IMG_3946.jpg

Now to dessert…
IMG_3952.jpg

IMG_3953.jpg

This was somewhat wasted --- I don’t like chocolate…but Charming and Samantha seemed to enjoy it…it came out flaming and was a nice presentation in delivery but really, that was about it.

Then all of a sudden the clock fast forwards and it’s 2AM!! LAST CALL!!!!!!

Huh? Now, I have heard last call many a times but never before 8pm. But before the finale of the show – which is the longest part – it’s last call for anything!
Let me advise – get yourself a couple rounds of whatever because when the finale is going on, there are no Cokes, no bread, no nothing except what you have on your table and it’s a good 30 minutes….

IMG_3971.jpg

Haley’s enthralled with the fire….
IMG_3973.jpg

Charming keeps leaning over, “I can do that V, nothing to it!”
IMG_3980.jpg

IMG_3986.jpg

Me – watching a guy in a leaf – hey, all is good!

The Bad Girls hit the ladies room before leaving and then head on out but not before posing at the statue of all statues!
IMG_3994.jpg

Spirit of Aloha ~ food was nothing special, show was nothing special either, the flame baton twirler was good. I think it is very overpriced…do it to do it, but I’m betting it will be a few years before we make it back there, hopefully they will change up the story a bit and maybe even the food.

Great report, as usual! I didn't know you had started another.

So are you going again for ESPN weekend? We were supposed to be there this weekend (1st-5th) but had to cancel. Now our APs expire in a couple weeks. :sad1: I don't know how long it'll be before we can make it back. Keep it up, I need to live through you!

BTW, I really wanna go back to the Poly again, so I would appreciate it, if you would take a trip there and report back in detail. K?

;)

Great report
love all the photos

Fun report. I love the pictures. I especially loved the stepsister pictures. I've never ran into them in my disney travels. I've been trying to scrapbook our trip. I hope you save all these trip reports for your kids. They are going to love them some day.:)

Popping in to say I love your report! I was so excited to see there will be 2007 Bad Girl Adventures.

I am a little jealous of all your trips though! I'm a Floridian too, down here in the southern part of the state, but still don't get up there nearly as often as I need to...I mean want to.

Looking forward to reading the rest of your adventures!

Love your report - you and I seem to have the same digital camera (trust me, it's nothing to do with operator error). ;)

Your girls are adorable! :goodvibes
