Hidden Springs Pool - Quiet Pool - Getting Gates?!

As of 10/14/13, the Hidden Springs pool was closed. I read at DVCnews.com that the reason it is currently closed is not for maintenance, but for having them install gates. From all the previous September announcements about new gates, they said that quiet pools would not be getting gates and would still be available 24/7. I am really upset because the Hidden Springs quiet pool is my favorite pool.

Does anyone know why they decided to close off this pool in particular, when it is designated a quiet pool?

If they do close it off, does that mean no swimming after 11pm?

Does that mean we can not pool hop on valid dates during our DVC stay?

The Springs does not have a 'quiet pool", The closest pool is the High Rocks Pool. The fences are to help prevent any additional drownings. All WDW pools are to get them.

Hidden Springs is the name of the VWL quiet pool. The info that I have read is that only feature pools are getting extended lifeguard hours and fences.

The Hidden Springs always seems to be closed when we stay at VWL so there may be other reasons.

Even if gated that wouldn't automatically mean that it would be hours different than they announced the quiet pools would be. You would have access with your room key/magic band. Or may just be a lift up latch.....

That's what I'm wondering. I don't know if a room key or magic band is sophisticated enough to allow pool hopping, or do you have to go all the way in to the lobby and talk to a cast member who may or may not be familiar with it, and then take extra time and effort.

If you want to swim after you get out of the park, and it's like 12 am or 1am and you just want to go relax for a bit, it hardly seems relaxing to have to worry about logistics, front desk, special key card? and doing all that just to take a midnight swim.

I guess no one will know until it's finished. Hopefully the Magic Band will be programmed for stays during valid dates for DVC pool hopping. Fingers crossed.

Bill, what you have said is consistent with what I read. And, it made very little sense to me!

Would you not have more risk and exposure at the quiet pools? People are wandering around main pools at 2:00 or 3:00 AM. But, many quiet pools are way out of the way and never get folks passing bye.....

I would think this may take a while? I would hope that they put some thought in to put up gates / walls / barriers that have incorporates some type of resort based theme. We shall see.....
