Hi, all. I am sort of new here. I have written one post on the Family Board. We are planning a trip probably next MLK weekend with our three children (who will be 6 (DD), 4 (DD), and 2 (DS) at the time), our mothers and my brother. I am feeling very overwhelmed right now, because the planning will probably fall mostly on me.

Here's what I am thinking: We will probably drive down on Wed. and part of the day Thurs. before the long weekend. Arrive sometime before noon on Thursday. Check in wherever we decide to stay and maybe hit a park that day. MK on Friday, maybe Saturday and AK on Sunday. Leave to go home on Monday. Does this sound like a reasonable plan?

I would like for us to do at least one character dining experience (of course) and the BBB. I am not sure what else since I am new to all of this.

I have a 1000 ?s One is, can you buy a dining package if you are not staying on site? Can we stay anywhere on site at a reasonable price? DH was looking at nearby hotels and condos that were fairly inexpensive (less than $100) a night. Is that possible at WDW?

Should we use a travel agent?

I know I will have more, but that is all I can think of right now. TIA, I know y'all are going to be a big help!

:welcome: MLK weekend will probably be busy so be prepared for that. You will probably enjoy MGM. There is quite a bit for younger kids there. Yes, you can stay on Disney grounds for the price you are looking for at one of the value priced resorts, however, keep in mind the number of rooms you will need. Can your 2 year old sleep in a pack n play or will he need a bed? If you watch for the codes to come out for the discounts you can come close to the price you're looking for and bump up to a moderate priced resort. If you can bump up, POR offers rooms that sleep 5. If you are looking to sleep everyone together (mothers and brother included), that will be more challenging for the price you are looking for, however, you could check into the family suites at the All Star resorts. Staying on site is a definate plus in my opinion, especially with the age of your children and the number in your party.

I have never used a travel agent. Here is Disney's travel number 1-800-828-0228. They will help you with everything.

As you have specific questions, you will surely receive answers from everyone here. If you have particular questions on resorts, just ask.

I believe you must be staying at a WDW resort to take advantage of the dining plan. We have never done the dining plan because we like our days to be very flexible but many people love the plan.

Good Luck on you upcoming trip!! :goodvibes
