Hiya

Im new to this board, and was wanting to say hi and introduce myself

Im anna (23) from the UK, my dbf Chris and I are starting to plan a 2010 wedding at wdw (4 yrs to go lol)

I was wondering if anybody had any tips etc, as I am clueless and a bit over whelmed right now.

We are thinking of the wedding chaple at Disney but arnt sure as our guests (immediate family) would total 16.

Also I have no idea where to hold a small reception etc

thanx for any ideas and its great to be over here

hiya
i'm from the uk too, essex to be precise! congrats on your upcoming wedding. i got married in the wedding pavilion 2 months ago and it was a great day. look at disneyweddings.com for the "official" info. but anything you need to know you can ask on this board. we only had 9 (including us) at our wedding, but that wasnt a problem at the wedding pavilion, when youre up there saying your vows, it doesnt matter to you if the place looks empty, youre too busy concentrating on other things! disneys intimate weddings now allow 18 guests and take place monday to thursdays. if you go above that guest count, you need to go as a custom wedding with minimum spends of $15-20k. not sure quite how big or small a day you want but the intimate package sounds like it'd suit you. it includes a small photo package, flowers, use of venue, 2 tier cake (more than enough for 20 people), a bottle of bubbly, a keepsake cake topper, and a violinist (and organist if youre using the wedding pavilion) for the ceremony and reception. it doesnt include accomodation or tickets, or an officiant (but theyre easy enough to book if you do it far enough in advance). its pretty much a set package but thats more than enough if you want a small destination wedding. you need to stay a minimum of 4 nights stay at a disney owned hotel in order to book your wedding. you can book the wedding a year in advance. i'd advise you book direct with disney weddings (i booked with virgin and had loads of problems)
there are loads of options for dinner afterwards. we went to chef mickeys for ours, as we wanted a bit of fun and an all you can eat buffet. but the more popular options seem to be citricos, california grill, narcosees, and victoria and alberts. ohanas buffet at the polynesian is also a popular choice.
hope this helps, if you need more info feel free to pm me or email me at karenangelatan@lycos.co.uk its always good to hear from people who've been there and done it!

hiya karen

thanks for saying hi so fast

I have always dreamed of geting married at the wedding chaple,

it does sound like the intimate wedding is for us as I arnt in to hug things lol.

at the chaple is it ok to have bridesmaids? as I have 5 nieces!!! who are all dying to wear a pretty dress.

are there certain dates in the year that book up fast (we would avoid valentines day of course lol) we are looking at halloween, as its one of my fave holidays,
though who knows what day that lands on.

I really want a reception too at one of the hotels, do you arrange all that through disney.

I have no idea of an options.

We are looking at staying 3 weeks, 2 weeks at disney then maybe the cruise.

are there any special honeymoon packages to book?

we are looking at flying virgin.

We are also having our wedding at the Wedding Pavilion. It is beautiful, the pics online don't do it any justice. To help answer some of your questions, yes, you may have bridemaids. But do remember that they are included in your guest allowance. For example, 20 people are allowed, so you subract you and your groom and the 5 bridesmaids, and you are left with 13 remaining guests.

I was also told that October and November are in the "higher" time of the year for Disney weddings. So, if you have a date in mind, make sure you call exactly one year out to get a tentative date set. When I talked to my EM last week, she said they are now trying NOT to book create a lottery by booking more than one wedding at the ssame time and location. Hopefully, this will not be a problem for you.

With an intimate wedding, you can book a reception dinner, but you will need to do this with Private Dining of the location of your choice. You will not go through DFTW to do that. They can, of course, give you options and ideas.

As Karen said in her post, the best suggestion is to visit www.disneyweddings.com to get the information you are looking for. They also have information available for honeymoons.

Hope this helps! Happy planning and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!!

Hi and welcome. You came to the right place to find some answers about a disney wedding. You can have as many bridesmaids as you want for your intimate- as long as your count doesn't go over the total of 20 people including you and your DH2B. Once you book through DFTW, one year out you can then start talking to your EM about reception places. I am getting married in December 2006 and am planning a dinner with my family at one of my favorite restaurants. Check the DFTW website that may answer some of your questions too. If not we can also help.
Again welcome.
