Hi my name is grover and I am a scrapping disneyholic....

Ok me next.

I found the Dis about 18 months ago when I was researching for our 'once in a lifetime trip' May 2001. I mostly hung out on the UK Boards and the Theme Parks/Restaurants etc boards, but one day just before we left for Orlando I wandered into the Scrapbooking board and never looked back. I took a look at a couple of albums people had posted and was amazed - I remember saying to my DH, I think I've found a new hobby that looks interesting. DH just nodded, 2 weeks of great enthusiasm and then I'd be bored with it...

Well, 1 year later I am totally hooked. I've done 1 Disney album, 1 wedding album for my brother, a birthday album for my dad and countless pages in my dd's album. And let's not mention the ££ spent on supplies!

Oh, I forgot all that who am I stuff?

Bev (33), married to Phil (40 in September!), one darling dd age 4 1/2 who is going to school in September - I can't believe she has grown up so fast.
We live in the North East of England but I spent 12 years in the States (1979 - 1991) in Omaha, Pittsburgh, Bethlehem (Lehigh University), Minnesota and New Jersey - It was a hectic decade!
I work full time as a computer programmer (when I'm not reading the Dis), and we have just moved into a new house which needs tons of work, so I am rapidly becoming a part-time kitchen / bathroom designer and getting to know far more abour rewiring than I ever wanted to know.

I'm also not very good at short posts!

Hi everyone,
My name is Erica (30yrs old) and I am sort of new to Scrapbooking. I started 2 years ago and I too have enough stuff to start a scrapbook store. i love buying all the neat gadgets and I 'm a sucker for the vellum because its so pretty.
As for other hobbies, I love Disney, watching our local AAA baseball team. I am trying to read a lot more too.
I am working on one album right now, for my stillborn angel, Emily Mae. She was born on October 18th,2001. She was our first baby and I am doing this to honor and remember her.
I also am trying to lose some extra lbs so we may be able to try again next year.
My husband (Shawn) and I are planning our first Disney trip together in November. It is his first trip.
I am preschool teacher for 4 yr olds ata Christian day care center. I have been a teacher there for 8 years.
My favorite shows are Trading Spaces, survivor, and watching movies ;)

Erica, I just wanted to say welcome to this wonderful hobby, and I think the project you've undertaken is a beautiful one. What a special way to keep your precious baby close in your heart. :)

Just wanted to say that it has been great to hear about so many of you!! It seems like our little scrapping board is growing isn't it! Yaaaa-the more the merrier!! I think it is great to kind of connect a personality ect with a name!
So what about the rest of you-no more lurking-post your intro!! Smiles

:D

Great idea, Grover!

I still have tears in my eyes after reading about tiggerfan6's little angel. I'm so sorry for your loss. Scrapping can be therapeutic and it will also be a wonderful memorial to your little girl.

I am a newbie to this board, too. Hard to feel like a newbie very long around here, though, with all the friendly, welcoming folks here!

My name is Audrey. I'm a Disneyaholic first and foremost, but scrapping is a close second. I sort of look at it as a way to spend more time thinking about our Disney memories! I've been on the boards since the beginning. I have lost posts at least twice during board revamps and "improvements." ;) I am a DVC member, which is also as much of a hobby as it is a vacation solution for me! I love the DVC.

I am 33 years old, married for 9 years this month to Brian. Last year we adopted our DS, Colton, after many years of struggling with infertility. He is the light of my heart. I wouldn't trade him for 10 biological children!! I am thankful that I am able to stay at home with him. I take it a day at a time, just hoping that my good fortune lasts. Not that I'm a pessimist or anything, but I don't take my blessings for granted.

I started scrapping this past April, but I've been interested for at least a year and a half. A good friend of mine became a CM consultant a couple of years ago and it became her mission in life to get me hooked on scrapping. Much to DH's dismay, she succeeded!! Isn't it funny how addictive this hobby is!? And what's with us and having to collect every scrapping tool, paper and embellishment ever created? I just received my brand spanking new Sew Cute sewing machine today. I have *never* touched a sewing machine in my life, but wouldn't you know I'd buy one to use on my pages! BTW, if you don't have one and you are interested in sewing on your layouts, HSN is selling them *cheap!* I got mine for $15, and that includes shipping!

It's been great to meet all of you. I agree with crazyforpooh-- wouldn't it be great to have a scrapmeet? We'd all be best buddies for sure with two obessions in common.

NEXT......

LOL DVCajun - let me guess, you read 2 peas right! I think that thread must be responsible for the sale of about 100 sewing machines!
I wonder what the shipping to the UK would be??

Hi everyone,
I'm Wendy, an accountant from NC. We made our first Disney trip in 1997 and September will be our 4th trip. I love scrapbooking and am already working on setting up my scrapbook for our September trip. I've never "pre-prepared" pages b4 but this is really exciting. September is our trip of a lifetime!

Thanks to all for all the wonderful in on these boards!

LOL, Bev! I was thinking the same thing!! :D

However did you guess!?? ;)

I have to say, though, that my friends here on the DIS are much nicer than the folks on 2Peas.

I love you guys!! xxoo :)

Erica my heart goes out to you. I hope you find some peace and I am sure your album will be so full of love!

Janice sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I know how hard that is. My dad died almost 14 years ago and I still feel the loss and pain. So I am sure this is a healing process too. Hope your health reamins good.

I love finding out about everyone! So keep posting!

Does anyone have a link to the twopeas article about sewing? I sure would like to read it.

Hello

I am Valerie. I am 41, married almost 19 years and have 3 kids. Beth (20), Kyle (17) and Sara (14). I started scrapping in the fall of 2000 and there has been no looking back for me. It is the one hobby I have stuck with and I enjoy as much as when I started. Both DD's scrap also so I enjoy going to crops with them. I started teaching classes at my LSS in May and enjoy that more than I anticipated.

I am currently working on a family album, cruise album and a heritage album. I inherited 4 rubbermaid tubs of family pictures some going back to the late 1800's. It took me awhile to get up the courage to start on them but they have really been enjoyable. I love color, vellum and buttons.

I work for a bank in town where I do the payroll and accounts payable. I also like to read a great deal. I am a fan of Mickey himself. Once we discovered the Cruiseline it has been history. You just can't beat the service and relaxation!

Happy Scrapping
Valerie;)

My name is Cass, I am first and foremost a Disneyholic and secondly a scrapaholic.

I have been on the DIS since 1997, when it was just one huge thread index, my how it has grown! I wish I had a dollar for every hour I have spent on the DIS Boards  I'd be in WDW right now

It was actually you guys on this board that inspired me to become a scrapper. Just before our Oct 2000 trip, I wandered on over here and saw some posts with links to some of their layouts and thought, wow, how creative! Which is why I now post my layouts, hopefully someone will see them and think the same as I did 2 years ago!

I am currently at home, due to health reasons..."they" believe I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, but no one will commit to a diagnosis. However, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world because of my incredibly wonderful husband, Robert. He is my best friend in the whole world and supports absolutely everything I do, even if my hobby may put us in the poor house one day ;)

He even notices the small things! (oohh...I love the way you layered the paper here.....hey, the border colour matches the colour of your shirt! ) He even likes WDW as much as I do and was wearing a Disney jacket, tigger hat and tigger shirt the night I met him...sigh...could he be more perfect for me???!!!!

We have been together 76 months today!...yes we still celebrate the 17th of EVERY month (my sister says we make her sick!) and will have been married for 4 years on October 17th.

I'm sorry....I am going on and on...but he is the biggest part of me and to know me, you must know him (ok shutting up now..)

I am a reality TV junkie...and LOVE LOVE LOVE movies!!!

....next!

Chessie:

There are actually several threads going on the General Scrappin' board on 2Peas. Some discuss the technique and some discuss the Sew Cute mini-sewing machine. Here's the link to that board:

Been off the boards for a couple of days for health reasons so I'm joining in late, so here goes -

I'm Laura and I live in Gurnee, IL. My DH - Joe (aka joepoe on the boards) and I have been married for almost 9 years. We have three dd's 8,8, and 5. I got pregnant with the twins on our honeymoon. I'm a healthcare consultant.

I've been scrapping for 4 years now. My neighbor was a CM consultant so it's her fault! I too have enough things to open my own store, and now, I've become a CM consultant as my neighbor moved! Thankfully, DH supports me in my efforts and has even started his own album.

I need a bumper sticker that says "I stop for Scrapbook Stores". Just opened a new "Memories" store in my area and of course I was there the first week they opened. I've also turned others onto this "addiction."

We're huge Dinseyholics as well. Joined DVC in '98 because we were going so often. Now, we go even more!

It's been fun reading everyone's posts!

Happy Scrappin!

I'm also Valerie from Florida!

I live in about 40 miles south of WDW, I have two super great boys 6 an 4. My husband and I have been marrried 14 years. We just had our 20th High School Reunion and other than it and the 10th reunion our Prom was the last formal picture of my husband and myself together!
So I don't have alot of pictures of us to scrap!

I'm a SAHWAHMom, We have a construction company and I do web design, sales, and web consulting.

I have only recently started scrapping. I really don't even have a full book done yet. I love the creativity it brings out. Can't wait to get some of the swap items back I've just joined! I learn more by seeing other work than by books. I do know that once you say your a scrapper the whole world looks different to you. Now it's "How can I scrap that on a page" when I see the world around me!

Scrapbooking has totally taken over my life I even got a job at the LSS just for the discount.

My name is Allison and I am almost 29. I am currently living in Southern Ontario, but have lived in Las Vegas, Atlanta and Hilton Head Island, SC, Dh is in the hospitality industry and we tend to move to where the jobs are. We have two beatuiful children Abby 5 and Drew 3, we have been married for 8 years and honeymooned at WDW.

I have been scrapping for two years, my mom and I made a "heritage" albun for my aunts 50th birthday, of course we had no idea that is what we were doing. I really enjoyed working on it but didn't start my own books till a few months later. After the birth of my son I had severe post partum depression, it continued for more than a year. The doctor suggested I find a hobby and since we already had some of the supplies I started scrapbooking well it didn't take me long to get hooked I am currently working on my 5th album. Basically I keep an ongoing family album, my disney album, I have done gift albums for both sets of grandparents and have a baby album for my son. I still need to do my daughters baby album. I would have to say my style is a mix between classic and fun. I love to use handmade embelishments and am something of a punchaholic I have close to 300 punches. I am hoping to get some of my pictures posted on the net so I can share them with everybody.

I have always loved disney my frist trip was when I was 10 years old to Disneyland in California, we went back there again when I was 13, 14 and at 16 I went to WDW for the first time. We honeymooned in WDW in 1996 (it was a late honeymoon we had been married for a year and a half.) We took our kids for the first time in 2001 and then just got back from my DD 5th birthday trip. She was able to have breakfast with the princess and dinner with pooh bear on her birthday. we are lucky that my MIL is moving to Tampa so I'm already planning a trip around Xmas time and another next summer.

I don't post alot on this part of the board but I do lurk alot and really enjoy looking at everyones work. Thank you all for sharing it with us.

Allison
