Hi everyone.

I'm a long time lurker, new poster.

I've been to disney seven times. But since my family has 11 people, I'm more of a peanut-butter-sandwich-in your fanny pack type, rather than a lets-all-eat-at-Crystal-Palace person. I'm really into budgeting.

Someday, I'm going take Mr. Nut4disney (aka Mr. Nut) for a stay at the Contemporary, but alas that will only commence once all the little disney fans are out of college.

I'm planning a trip in january 08, and decided to throw my hat in the ring here, as it isn't fair to read all your good advice without contributing my fair share.

Let's see... what else? Oh, I love driving to disney with my family. Did I mention that I live in New England? Yeah. Oh, and I don't drive, so that leaves the driving mostly to the aforementioned Mr. Nut. But he loves Disney as much as I, and I can prove it. Driving to disney. With 11 people. Plus in-laws. Did I mention disabilities? Yeah. Mr. Nut is also known around here as Mr. Patience of A Saint, aka Prince Charming.

Hmm..what else about me. February is always a dull month in New England. We have snow...and ummm..snow, and ummm..more snow. So I usually host a "Disney Wintertime" party, and I'm always on the lookout for new ideas.

I think that's the most important stuff for now. So, anyway...

HI EVERYONE!

Welcome, nut4disney! :wave2: I just joined back in October in anticipation of our first Christmas trip ever. :cool1: This is a GREAT site for tips, tricks, and advice. I look forward to reading more of your budget tips. I like to stick to a budget as well, but so far I haven't been too successful. :guilty:

I try to go after Halloween. We don't buy candy AT ALL for the kids, because we let them take their Halloween trick-or-treat candy, and everyday they get to put a bunch in their fanny pack.

I had to :rotfl2: when I read your post. I am a newbie too, but I totally relate to the PB&J in the fanny pack comment!!! That is so us! Not to mention, I would love to stay at the Poly, but we have 4 kiddos so we will not be making that venture until it is just hubby and I. :)
We live in Ohio and we love to drive down. I guess it is the anticipation of getting there, and I know some people think I am crazy to drive 14 hours. But I love it and my kids are 10, 7, 6, and 4! :rotfl:

WELCOME!!!!! I have been a long-time lurker as well and I have found :disrocks:

The park limits what you can take inside, but I've found that Cans-o-beans-or-soup at a "tailgate party" in the car works pretty well when we're tired of peanut butter. In the summer, I don't even need to cook the soup/whatever-was-on-sale/beans, the heat inside car does it nicely. :rotfl: We buy drinks in the park.

Our next trip will probably be tent camping at FW, which we've never done before.

And we've driven to Ohio too! One of my friends attended Steubenville, the Franciscan Univ.

Thanks Munchkin!

I see you're in Dutchess Co. I used to be in Tivoli...a loooooooong time ago!
That's interesting! We live in Milan - 7 miles east of Red Hook! :)

:welcome: 'bout time you quit lurking around and joined in. :goodvibes
We've done the PB&J thing too. Not all the time but sometimes. We love to try all the different restaurants but sometimes we'll cary in a sandwich for lunch and do a restaurant for dinner or vis a versa. Other times the PB&J or other snacks just tide us over to the next meal.
Now as far as resorts go. We like to mix that up too. If you want to stay at a deluxe but can't afford to for the whole trip just do one night at the begining or end of your trip. It usually seems to work best at the end of the trip. You can stay at a value or offsite all week. Then check out a day before you plan to head home and check into your deluxe for your last day. That way you can experience it without the expense of the whole week. We usually don't go to a park while we are at the deluxe we just spend time enjoying the resort.

:wave2: Hello.

I'm looking forward to hearing about some of your strategies for doing disney with 11 people. We have six children and possible adding another one in the next year. We're going for our second time in Jan.
