Hi everyone!
This is my first time on the W.I.S.H. board and I thought this may be the best place for my question. I have done WW in the past and was successful. I stopped going to the meetings because it was tough to find parking and once I got in, the weigh in line would literally be up to a half hour:eek: (poor excuses I know). I did the points on my own for a while then, surprise, I stopped!

Now I'm considering joining WW online which leads me to my question. Does anyone here do WW online? If you have gone to meetings in the past and now use online, do you feel as though you are as strict with points as you were when you actually went to a meeting to weigh in? I know everybody is different but I'd just like to get an idea if others have found WW online to be successful for them. Thanks! :D :D

Hi, Cindy:

Welcome to WISH! :)

I've never done WW meetings, just used the materials at home. I lost 20 lbs. doing it that way and then fell off the wagon.

After getting our pictures back from our Disney cruise last October (I told my dh I wanted to cut myself out of them!) I signed up for WW Online last November. I really liked some of the website features available to Online members (like the points calculators for recipes and exercise). The online journal was okay, too, but I found I prefer having my journal on paper (printing the online journals used up a lot of ink!). I eventually let the online membership lapse and cancelled it.

I'm now doing WW on my own again and coming here for support. To be honest, I feel like this board is the best support I've come across, even more than the WW boards.

That's my .02, of course YMMV!! Let us know what you decide to do. :)

I looked into the online program because I didn't really want to go back to the meetings but I did like the WW program. Overall I felt that I would not really be getting anything for my money that I cannot get here on WISH.

The people on this board are so supportive and they can hold you accountable as well that I didn't feel the need to sign up anywhere except here. I would imagine that for some people the online program is exactly what they need but I just didn't see the benefits personally.

I would ask youself what kind of support you think you really need to lose weight and then decide if the online program will meet those needs.

Hi Cinmell! I don't follow the WW plan, but I am just extremely nosy and I read everything on WISH ;)

I just wanted to welcome you to WISH. Grab your clipart and join us. Whether you attend the WW meetings or do it online we want you in our support group!

Thanks everyone! I'm kind of bummed it took me this long to visit this board. I've been reading alot of posts on this board today and have already picked up some great tips. I'm definetly going to go find the walking dvds tomorrow. I hope they're not difficult to locate. I also think I'm going to try the points again on my own without going online especially since I still have all my books and pamphlets. I also know my biggest problem with weight loss has been cutting out or cutting down on the about of things such as potatos (I love all kinds of potatos), breads and PEPSI!!!!!!!! I'll just have to come up with some substitutes for those things. Where do you get clipart? Is it easy to add because I'm not too computer savvy? :teeth: Nativetxn, I'm nosey too, however, I prefer to use the term inquisitive rather than nosey;) . We just want to know what's going on and there's nothing wrong with that;) :D .

Oh good, another inquisitive WISHer ;)

Our own Jody (Wovenwonder) has written some really great instructions for adding the clipart to your signature. You will find those instructions HERE.

If you have any trouble just pm Kelsie ( or me or glo) and let us know and we will get some help for you :)

Cindy:

If you have a Target nearby, I know I've seen the WATP DVDs there.... :) Also, I wanted to add that I know just how you feel about cutting down on those yummy carbs and pop -- my addiction is Dr. Pepper! ;) I have started substituting Diet Dr. Pepper with my lunch -- I don't notice the aftertaste as much when I'm eating something with it. :)

I've been using WW online since January and have found it to work for me. I don't have to be someplace at a certain time, so have one less excuse for not following the program. I also like the way I can enter a recipe and get point values.

However, I've found that W.I.S.H. is, IMO, better for group support than the WW website. I had a question about Curves, but couldn't find the answer there. I came here, and a quick search turned up the information I needed.

Hi, Cindy!!

I'm a WW Lifetime member who fell off the wagon and is doing it all over again. I go to a traditional meeting every week, which I love. It's convenient and I enjoy the people a lot, and it's a huge part of my motivation. I really need the community aspect of the meeting and the "official" weigh in to keep me honest and accountable.

As you've seen, we've got WISHers doing all kinds of different programs. There are LOTS of us WWs here, as well as Atkins and just about any other program you can think of.

You can try doing the online WW thing and get your "personal" touches from us, then if that isn't enough you might try traditional meetings again.

If you have any program questions, you'll get lots of answers here. If you need a little shove for motivation, you can get that here, too. If you want to brag after a good week or whine after a bad one, this is the place. You won't get any 5 Pound Loss bookmarks online, but you'll probably like the clipart better!

I like the term infomaniac. Just be careful when you say to others, "I am an infomaniac!

Hi, Cindy, and welcome to WISH!!!

I'm doing WW. Just using some old cookbook my MIL gave me a long time ago that has some sample menus in it. I come here for support. I do visit the official WW site to look at the before and after pictures. Seems like they add new ones every week, so I use that for motivation! :) I have checked out the WW message boards and they don't feel as warm and fuzzy to me as the WISH board, but I'm sure I'm biased! :)

So far I haven't felt like I am missing anything by not attending meetings or an officially WW weigh in. I went to meetings years ago and loved to listen to the leader when I was there, but my group for the most part was very unenthusiastic! ;) I find it very easy to stay on track with WISH because I can pop in to the board all day and read all the new messages. Just knowing that all these wonderful women and men are doing the best they can do for themselves is enough to keep me chugging along! :)

Good luck and hope you stick around and post alot!!! Wait until you get your first new clippie. It's the BEST feeling!!!
