So after one of my business meetings, a few colleagues and I headed over to THE WAVE.
On a previous trip, DBF and I stuck our head in and I was really impressed by the "look" and the menu. (Actually on a trip just about a year ago, we ate at the Concourse Steakhouse they were testing some of the Wave Desserts, and I got to try some of them there!)
On to the trip report...
I had seen pictures of the lettuce wraps on other posts, and decided to continue my branching out...
Lettuce Wraps - Sauteed lamb and bay scallops with soy-rice wine vinegar sauce.
These were quite good, but I think next time I will try something else. (I was so blown away by the Y and Y lettuce cups, that to me, these didn't reach the level I wanted them too!)
I debated between pork and beef for my main, and ended up with this
Grilled Beef Tenderloin - with mashed celery root. This is not exactly what is showing on the menus on I am finding on various websites. I was leery of the mashed celery root, but OH MY! If i didn't want dessert so badly, I would have ordered a second helping. Great texture and flavor. The steak was done very well too, I really thought it was great!
On too dessert...I had seen other people on the boards had been able to mix and match, so we asked if we could. Unfortunately, our waitress told us that due to an unexpected high crowd level, they didn't have enough desserts to allow for that.
I went with...
Decadent Flavors - Blueberry Compote with Yogurt Gelato, Lemon Cornbread with Vanilla Panna Cotta, or Chocolate Mousse with Salted Caramel Sauce
YUM! I actually liked the Chocolate mousse the best, salty and sweet combos are my favorite. I also really liked the cornbread (though I expected a little more panna cotta than the tiny dollop on top!)
While I liked the compote, I'd probably substitute another dessert for this one if I could in the future.
Mirror, Mirror on the wall, was it a wave or was it a squall?

and a half
I think the Wave is a great restaurant with great food for a nice night out, if you don't want to get dressed up for a signature.
Hope to eat here again soon!
