Monday July 9th

Decided last night that we would not have an early start and by that time our suitcases would have arrived and we could change to our park gear as the weather was a bit chilly and damp. Woke about 8ish excited to be in Disney. Decisions, decisions what will I put on today.........what I had on yesterday. The kids woke and dressed quickly as they had slept in the buff last night and didn't like that much. We headed downstairs to breakfast. The choice at the Explorers is lovely - cereals(frosties, cornflakes, coco munchers) croissants, rolls, yoghurts, fresh fruit, ham, cheese, fruit juice, tea and coffee. I finished breakfast and headed to the shop which was now open to buy some and any tolietries they sold. I came away with toothbrushes, deodrant, toothpaste and shaving cream which was a bit silly and we had no razor:confused3 . We all went to the room and brushed our teeth then headed to reception to see if our cases had arrived. They hadn,t but as it was still only 11am we decided to head into the park and get Rosies Dream pass.

Out we went to catch the Pink bendy bus as of we went. The journey on these buses is ok when they are quiet but at times it got to the times when we wondered if you could fit in any more bodies :lmao: . Arrived at the stop and walked round the corner to catch the first glimpse of Disneyland Hotel and gardens. DH and Rosie went to buy her Dream Pass at the gate as that way we got our Shareholders discount and the rest of us headed in and waited for the at the gazebo and got our first glimpse of Main Street and the Castle. I was home

Walked up Main Street watching the kids excitedly telling Rosie where and what we were going to do first. Checked the Information board and headed for POTC which everyone loves but Molly in all her visits has refused to go on. With a bit of bartering she decided she would ride and loved every minute of it. Rosie enjoyed her first Disney ride and then we did it again.

By this time is was after midday and everyone was a bit peckish. It is tradition that we eat at Rainforest Cafe on our first evening so we decided to eat at Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost. It has a lovely setting outside which was the only seat we could find. I always has a kids meal which I find more than filling and much to my amazement DH came back with a kids meal for himself and couldn't believe how generous the portions were. Dh had the penne pasta with bolognaise sauand the rest of us had Mickey pizza. The kids meals also include a drink, ice cream and a little wind up car that had Mickey Mouse - with track!! All for 6 euros each less our Dream pass discount 10%.

All fed moved on and had our first shot at Buzz which is my favourite ride:) . By this time the skys were getting black so my mum and dad took Rosie to get her pass at the Annual Passport Office and we wandered about. The queues for the rides were huge by this time but with a whole week ahead we just soaked up the atmosphere:thumbsup2 Then the rain came so we took cover in the Discovery Arcade. 30 minutes later and no let up in the rain we purchased our Mickey Macs (much to DH disgust) and we decided as it was after 3pm we would head back to the hotel and unpack

Arrived at reception and were duly informed that our luggage hadn't arrived so DH headed off to phone BA. One hour later and with a bit of help from a french receptionist we were told by a red faced DH that BA had no idea where our 7 suitcases were or when we would get them :scared1: Once the realisation of the situation had sunk in it was decided that Rosie,my mum and I would head for Val D Europe and try and pick up some essentials and my dad and Brian took the kids to Rainforest Cafe to eat.

We headed to the shopping centre at 4.30pm by taxi which cost 11 euros and started shopping. British Airways had told DH that they would honour any expenses we occured buying essentials. Still in shock we wandered around the centre. I found GAP which I bought some socks and t shirts for the kids and one t shirt and vest top for myself (nearly everything I bought was in the sales as I didn,t want to spend too much on things we would't need!!). My mum and Rosie bought a couple of things as well. We then went to Go Sport where I picked up a couple of Nike t shirts for DH and DS as well as buying swimming gear for everyone. We were running out of time so headed for the top floor of Auchen supermarket which reminded me of Wallmart. There we picked up tolietries, underwear, pyjamas and another pair of jeans for DS. That came to around 100 euros. By this time is was 8.30pm and we wanted to go home. Off we went in a taxi back to the hotel arriving about 9pm. Met up with the kids who were playing and making friends and DH and my dad were drowning their sorrows over a pint. We joined them then headed for an early night as tomorrow we were heading out for our first full day and hopefully our luggage would turn up as well...............

At least you manage to have some fun in the park, even though your luggage hadn't arrived.

Thanks for sharing:goodvibes

I'm sure the photos would be fine Jackie. It isn't like we have smellie vision ;)

Diane was equally disgusted when I purchased my Mickey ears and pulled out the yellow poncho I'd bought in advance of the trip.

Great that the kids enjoyed showing off their Disney knowlege... DISers in the making :goodvibes

Glad to hear you had a fun filled first day in spite of everything to do with suitcases!

Whenever we go to DLRP our first rides always have to be Phantom Manor and Pirates - it's tradition!
