Well, I got back on Saturday morning but here I am. :)

As expected, we had a fantastic time. We're really sad to be home and we're already planning next year's trip! :rotfl:

If you have any questions about any of my points, please ask away! Some highs and lows:

HIGHS

Saratoga Springs Resort

We really enjoyed SSR. We were assigned a room in The Springs, which I wasn't happy about at first as we'd requested Congress Park. However, it was a great location! It only took a few minutes to walk to our bus stop and the main pool. The main building was really close too so it was easy to stop by and refill our mugs/grab a snack, etc.

Our studio room was fab, particularly the balcony and big fridge! We had a trees/water view so that was nice.

We loved getting the boat over to Downtown Disney. It's such a relaxing ride and a nice change from the buses. When none of the parks were open late, we often took the boat over and browsed the shops or went to the cinema.

My only gripe with SSR was the length of time the buses took to navigate the resort. It's huge, that goes without saying. Nonetheless, the buses seemed to take such a strange, long-winded route. It wasn't so bad that we'd be put off staying there again though, it was just a minor issue.

Weather

We were very lucky overall and only experienced two bouts of heavy rain. The temperature was 90+ most days. It was VERY humid but nothing a hat and pigtails wouldn't sort!

People

From the CMs at WDW to the shop assistants at the malls, the majority of people we encountered were very friendly, kind and helpful. We felt like very welcome guests.

Blue Man Group

I booked the show for DBF's birthday and I'm so glad I did. It was hilarious! I'd booked aisle seats, which paid off because I was picked to go on stage! For those who have seen the show, I was involved in the Twinkies segment. :lmao: I was so nervous but it was a lot of fun. :goodvibes

Shopping

Even with a mediocre exchange rate, everything is still so much better value over there. I was after some UGGs and got my Classic Short pair for $117 at Premium Outlets. I'm a size 5 and bought a kids' pair (not sure what size they go up to). The adult versions were $150. Considering they cost £150 over here, I got a great bargain!

Crowds/wait times

We were really fortunate with wait times. Even for popular rides like Big Thunder Mountain and Tower Of Terror, the most we waited was five minutes! We got to see the wait time of 13 minutes for ToT too. :goodvibes It was weird because sometimes the parks seemed to be swarming with people but the wait times were very low. :confused3

Tune In Lounge

I think this is our favourite place to hang out in all of WDW, not just Hollywood Studios. We just love it. The drinks are great and the atmosphere is fab. We'll definitely be back.

Disney Dining Plan

We've done the DDP twice now, once paid for and once free. Either way, it suits our needs and we enjoy trying all the different restaurants. We were a little more savvy with our credits than we were last year, so we didn't have loads to use up at the end.

Wizarding World Of Harry Potter

I haven't seen any of the Harry Potter films, nor have I read any of the books. However, I was blown away by WWoHP. It's amazing! They've done such a fantastic job and Forbidden Journey is one of the best rides I've ever been on. :thumbsup2

Lynx buses

Thankfully, the buses were really easy to use. They showed up on time (unlike buses over here!) and were clean, comfortable and very cheap. We only took a few taxi journeys, most of which were actually quite unpleasant: we were taken the long way round to Walmart, even though we'd specified which one we wanted to go to and on the way back from Universal we had to direct the driver as she didn't know where she was going. In comparison, the buses were a breeze!

LOWS

Royal Pacific Resort

To cut a long story short, it was rubbish. We were so disappointed. We'd booked a Club Level room, which was tiny and had a bad view. The CL lounge had a dull, bordering on miserable, atmosphere and the offerings weren't great. Breakfast wasn't bad but it was still pretty basic. We weren't able to use the facilities on the day we checked out, even though I'd read differently on here. Also, some staff members were pretty rude to us. We won't be staying onsite at Universal for a while now. :sad2:

I am itching to sit and read this but I am going to have to wait until lunch time ;) Meantime I couldn't resist a quick welcome home. Hooray, another trip report! :cool1:

Could to see you back on the boards too! :goodvibes

Welcome back!! I must admit I agree with your regarding Royal Pacific - I have stayed there twice and won't be going back. Some rude staff and in the bar (something like Jake's Bar I think) I genuinely felt like an outsider....

Saying that we are going to try Hard Rock - might be more our thing!

Glad you had a great trip!

I have been reading a few bad reports of the universal resorts, we were thiking of doing a night next year but all these reports have put me off.

Welcome home Lauren.
I don't think you can go far wrong anywhere at SSR or OKW, for the money we pay they are a bargain.

Glad you liked BMG, one of my fave shows.

We got great value out of DDP, we would never pay for it, it just wouldn't be worth it for us but free with OKW/SSR offer is a great deal.

WWoHP, I only saw 1st film never read any of the books but I feel same as you(although I was too big for the ride, maybe next year) there is something about the place they have got just right.

Also feel similar to you about RPR, very dissapointed. For the money I paid I was expecting a lot better, and I got a good rate compared to many others. They sent me a questionaire so I let them know my feelings on there, although staff we met were OK the room was shabby, OKW room in a better state and they are going thru a refurb program.

Have you decided on dates for next year yet?

sounds like you had a good time, pity about RPR, we stayed there 2 years ago, agree room was small and we looked onto trees so never seen anything, but we only booked so that we could get FOTL passes so were not in the room except to sleep at night.

welcome back:goodvibes

we had a bad experiance at HRH this year, damp room (including the bed:scared1:) however to be fair to them we complained when we got home and they have given us a free nights stay so we might try again on our next trip, whenever that is:confused3

Welcome back! Sounds like a great trip! You have built my excitement about SSR to fever pitch!!!

Glad you had a great time!!

Glad you enjoyed the BMG! I love them, seen them 3 times now (New York, Vegas & Orlando) and my boyfriend got picked for the male part ;) while in Vegas! Very brave of you to go up there!!

Seem to be reading some bad reports about RPR but we had an amazing weeks stay in May! So much so that I don't think we'd go back to Orlando without staying there!

Hiya Lauren, welcome home.

How long did you stay?, due to our children changing to senior school in the next couple of years we are soon going to be pushed to utililise the Summer Holidays for our Disney fix and am therefore considering the last 2 weeks of August and first week of September which I think must be very similar to your dates?

If the crowds and weather continue to be the same as during your trip, then Il be more than happy :thumbsup2

Welcome home:thumbsup2

Glad you had a lovely time, and look forward to hearing all about it:banana:

Welcome back Lauren. Glad you had a fab time. :goodvibes

I just  the Tune In lounge, can't wait to go back there for a few more of Grandma's Pinic punches. ;)

Glad you enjoyed the BMG, I've seen them 3 times (Orlando, Vegas & London) they are great. Glad you got picked to go on stage! :lmao:

Shame about RPR - i've got 2 nights booked for January. I've stayed at HRH & PBH so wanted to try the other one, now i'm not so sure!

Are you going to do a trip report?

Thanks! We stayed at HRH last year and, while I wasn't overly impressed, in hindsight it was a lot better than RPR.

Glad you had a great trip!

I have been reading a few bad reports of the universal resorts, we were thiking of doing a night next year but all these reports have put me off.

Thanks! Yeah, quite a few recent reports have been negative. I understand how you feel. I'm sorry to say that, at this moment in time, I wouldn't recommend a Universal hotel to anyone. :(

Thanks Wayne. I was sent the questionnaire too- like you, I made my feelings very clear. ;) It's really frustrating because we paid £250 to stay there for the night. Never again!

I agree that the SSR/OKW deal is great value. Having stayed at SSR, we're planning on trying OKW next year, with a 4-night cruise thrown in at some point. Not really sure where to start with that one! We're thinking of staying onsite at WDW for a night or two, doing the cruise, then spending another 12 nights at OKW (17/18 nights in total).

Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a great time! :goodvibes

Thank you!

Our view was of a busy road and maintenance buildings! :rotfl: The FOTL passes are great but we visit in low season, so they're not really a necessity for us.

welcome back:goodvibes

Thanks! That's a shame about HRH. While I didn't fall in love with the place, our room was very nice (much bigger and cleaner than the one we had at RPR).

Sounds like a great trip - hope you'll do a trip report or food reviews

Thanks! I might do, if I have time. :)

Thanks! It's a great resort, I think you'll love it.

I was incredibly nervous on stage, it took me several minutes to relax and enjoy myself. It's so bright up there anyway, I couldn't even see anything! :lmao:

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at RPR. I first stayed there in 2008 and had a great time, so this time was a real disappointment.

Welcome back! Did you like Butterbeer? :upsidedow

Thanks! I didn't try Butterbeer, it didn't really appeal to me.

Thanks! I stayed for 15 nights, August 26th-September 10th. I would 100% recommend going at this time of year if you can. :thumbsup2

Welcome home:thumbsup2

Thanks! Yeah, the Tune In Lounge is fab and I can't wait to see BMG again. :goodvibes

RPR might turn out great for you, you never know. We were planning to try PBH next year, having stayed at the other two. Not going to happen now!

I don't think I'm going to do a full-blown TR because I didn't take any notes. I am going to post some photos and comments on this thread though.

 Did you try the frozen or the normal?

Ah well more left for me next week LOL :lmao:

What was your fave part or thing you did this trip?

How did you enjoy your TS meals? What about the one you deliberated so much about for your last night? I remember you had Biergarten and then changed it, but didn't know where you went in its place.

BTW, my last post was supposed to read "GOOD to have you back ...." I had a rough week last week and I see my spelling appears to have become a casualty :rolleyes1 Probably what you get for typing a post while doing something at work ....

Hmm, good question but a very difficult one to answer! Can I cheat and say everything? :goodvibes

Well... we replaced Biergarten with Crystal Palace but we ended up cancelling it. Oh, the indecision! :rotfl:

Most of our TS meals were pretty good but Tutto Italia was a major disappointment. The dish I enjoyed so much last year had been taken off the menu so I had to pick something else (gnocchi), which was terrible. It tasted very false and, on top of that, the service was quite sketchy too. We'll be giving it a miss next year, unfortunately.

:cutie: Don't worry about it, I knew what you meant! Hope you're feeling better after your rough week.

Welcome back - glad you had an amazing time.
