I am taking my DM and 2 of her cousins to Niagara Falls this summer. We are staying at the Sheraton. I was trying to select nice restaurants close to the Falls. We will be there 2 nights. One night we will do the buffet at the Sheraton Penthouse Restaurant. What would be another good choice? (other than the Skylon)

Rainforest Cafe is right on Clifton Hill which is the main street into the Niagara Falls Park.

A little pricey but the atmosphere is fun!

We have been to the one in Toronto (did it once with my boys) and also the one in Downtown Disney (dragged my husband along with the boys and he absolutely loved it!).

Also there is a lovely restaurant right in the falls park. Sorry I can't remember the name of it but you drive all the way into the end where the Cdn. falls go over. The building houses gift shops, and elevators to the 'under the falls' experience but there is also a nice restaurant where you can have a fairly decent meal and watch both US and Cdn. falls.

Table Rock House is a great choice imho. It is operated by the Niagara Parks Commission and the food has always been excellent, and you are perched right by the edge of the Falls. The other restaurant operated by the Niagara Parks Commission is Queen Victoria Place (formerly known as the Refectory) Right opposite the Falls the food is always good (once again the Parks Commission isk nown for its good food).
Take a look at http://www.niagaraparks.com/planavisit/dining.php and you can get an idea of price and menus.

Thanks Grumbo!

Couldn't think of their names and we usually go once a year! Guess old age is creeping up on me!!!

We did have a hard time finding a nice, non-chain restaurant (Rainforest Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Kelsey's). We wanted a romantic anniversary dinner and these chains were loud, over-priced and the food was horrible. We ended up at a place called Monticello's which was outstanding. The service was fantastic, the food to die for and the atmosphere was perfect for a nice, leisurely dinner. It was a little pricey (my veal entree was approx $20) but I didn't feel that bad after realizing I would have paid the same for fajitas at PH. My DH had the muscles and he still raved about tham. To find it you would go up Victoria hill to the 1st main intersection and then turn right. It was approx half a block up on the left hand side of the street. I can't recommend this place enough.

I've seen Monticello's a number of times but never eaten there. It is at 5645 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls and as Limmer said you would go up Clifton Hill, and at Victoria Avenue turn right at the traffic lights and it would be on your left hand side. You can park at the rear, off of Ellen Avenue which is far easier to do in the summer time. Parking can be a bit pricy, but probably no more so than the big cities.

There is Ruby Tuesdays on Clifton Hill, If you are looking for a much quieter (is that a word?) atmosphere then I suggest if you like Italian food try Casa D'oro on Victoria Ave. (goto the top of clifton hill turn left at the lights and it is on your right side) I can't think of any other restaurants that were not mentioned already in this thread. Good luck and have a great time!!! :sunny:

I was going to suggest the Skylon until you quashed my idea! That's where I proposed to my wife, actually.

At any rate, there are several places that are nice to eat around NF. Planet Hollywood is nice; It's where we started on the evening of my stag. Of course, at the end of the night we ended up at the Flying Saucer which is certainly *not* a nice restaurant so I wouldn't recommend it unless you want an interesting experience. The restaurant itself is shaped like a UFO and it's on Lundy's Lane by the QEW overpass. :rotfl:

Down the way from Niagara Falls is Queenston Heights and they have a really nice restaurant http://www.niagaraparks.com/planavisit/queenstonres.php Plus, it's a nice drive down Niagara Rvr Parkway to get to it.

In addition if you're interested in Stand-up comedy, Yuk Yuks runs a dinner show package http://www.yukyuks.com/info/locations/niagara.cfm . My wife and I usually go for the show however have done the dinner a couple of times and it's alright. All in all a nice evening. It is, however a little crass at times. Grumbo certainly wouldn't go.

Oh, don't forget to visit Italian Ice Cream. It's on Victoria Avenue just east of Bender street (where the old casino is). All the ice cream is home made and tastes AWESOME.

Thanks you all for all your help!!! I really appreciate it! :)

StuartMI, I will mark down Italian Ice Cream. I was looking for a place to go after the play at Niagara on the Lake. Do you know their hours?

Sadly I don't. I think they're open late though -- ~10pm. Call and ask. I always pre-order banana ice cream in the "Baskets" - about $6.00 and bring them home with me in a freezer bag. So good.

Yes! Italian Ice Cream on Victoria Street!
My son and I stopped there almost every day while visiting Niagara Falls last year - I meant to try more flavors but once I had the Lemon Ice there was no other choice for me - I still crave it!
It's a very cool place that has an elegant bar, serves a nice Italian cup of coffee and has just a very laid-back feel to it. Worth a visit, if just for dessert & coffee
