I'm currently at wwohp and the universal is set to close at 5 for hhr nights while IOA is staying open til 8. They are passing out blue wrist bracelets to those boarding the hogswarts express at hogsmead currently at 440 pm. The brackets allow you to stay in diagon alley til 8pm even though the rest of the park closes at 5pm. The only catch is to exit the park you must ride the train over to IOA to exit.

Oh cool, good to know. I thought DA was entirely closed during HHN. What's the crowd level like?

I'm not sure. I'm not staying for the event. I think only the people with the wrist band get admission to wizarding world but don't quote me on that. The wait time on gringotts was long so we left

Thanks for the update. Yeah, I figured HHN guests wouldn't be allowed in, so I was hoping that'd be a way to get DA all to myself for the next few weeks. Looks like I'm not the only one who thought of that!

Theoretically it should be but I'm not sure they are running the ride at full capacity since the hhr event is going on. Man power issue? There is no reason for a 90 minute wait on gringotts when the longest it was all day was 60. There really didn't seem to be very many people in diagon alley.

Hmm yeah, that's got to be it. With the HHN crowd blocked only people with two-park admission can get in, so I'm sure they're understaffed for the night. How was the wait throughout the day? I'll be there tomorrow and it'd be nice to see what all the fuss is about. Last time I was in DA the wait was 5+ hours, so I figured I'd skip it and come back later.

Early morning if your are the first group in about 15 minutes throughout the day 45 minutes most of the day I noticed once it shot up to 60 but I think that's when it was about to start raining. I got in it right when it jumped to 60 minutes. I timed my wait from time entering the line to off the ride it was 45 minutes way so wait time was way over estimated. Made me quite happy :)

Cool thanks, that's good to know. I've heard the queue is pretty impressive, so 45 minutes seems like a good balance between having enough time to see everything without completely killing the rest of your day. Should be good times!

Saw the train running both ways tonight while waiting in the queues during HHN. I hope the lights in DA will be turned off or at least toned down during HHN...they are really bright and definitely ruins the mood of the event.

Also...wanted to welcome you guys to the boards. I hope you both have fun posting!
:teeth:

Thanks for the welcome! This seems like a good community so far so I'm sure I'll enjoy posting here. :goodvibes

That's really cool!

So to get the bracelet you need to be in line for HE at IOA at the right time? Is there another place to get the bracelets? If you are already in Diagon Alley at 5 will they just let you stay? Sorry for all the questions, this is just the first I've heard of this and we're going to be there next week! So I want to make sure I know how to take advantage of the extra time!

That's the only place that I saw people with the braclets was those who had passed the park to park ticket scans at either side of the trains entrance near park closing since you have to have a park to park ticket to ride the train and that's how they verify it was by scanning your ticket. I'm not sure if there's any other place. I'm sure anyone who works there would be happy to let you know how to get a braclet but I would recommend asking the people dressed in train porter uniforms or at guest relations when you arrive.

I was just there for HHN and saw a few people filtering out of DA after 6-6:30 or so. HE/DA are blocked from the rest of Universal, so they can't access the rest of the park and vice versa. I suspect DA is open as long as IOA is, but that's just a wild guess.

ETA: I'm not sure how they handle it if you're already in DA since you wouldn't have to have a park to park ticket to get in, but you'd need it to leave. Somehow it can be done though because DA seemed quite open well after the rest of Universal closed.

Oh yeah, and consider doing Gringotts last. We got stuck in Gringotts purgatory today. It broke down once while we were in line, and then twice while we were on the ride! Took forever to get off so that we could go about our day. It wasn't a biggie for us since we can go anytime, but it took enough time out of our day that we had to miss out on some other stuff we wanted to do; we would've been more upset if we only had a day or two there and wanted to maximize our time.

I definitely still recommend it because it's a great ride, but if you have bad luck it can be a real time sink.

Enjoy your visit! :)

Hope they continue with this next weekend. This would be a great opportunity for me to see DA lit up at night. Since I always travel around the same time every year, the parks are on shortened hours when I go. I just have to decide if I want to give up one night of early entry to HHN.:scratchin
