We became FL residents at the first of this year. We are USO PAP holders.
We chose last Saturday as our HHN evening.
We really enjoyed ourselves, but learned many Do's and Don'ts and want to pass them along to other HHN newbies.
We bought our tickets several weeks/months ago on-line.
I wish we had known about the Frequent Fear Pass. We would also have purchased that. Before HHN we even went to Vacation Services to purchase HHN Express, and nothing was mentioned or explained to us then.
But that would be best to buy earlier anyway.
Just one of many things for us to remember next year.
We also found that Express for last night's HHN were sold out days ago. We thought they would sell them the day/night of. WRONG.
With that we were expecting the worse. Others had gone and said they only went through 1 -2 houses because of a two hour wait at each house.
Being PAP holders, and knowing how terrible the west bound traffic has been on I4, we arrived at USO mid to late afternoon yesterday.
We got GREAT parking. Good start.
We also talked to a very helpful (different) Vacation Services employee who told us where to go until the HHN officially opened and to start from the back and go forward.
USO was great that they had a few houses open and allowing guests who were already in the park through the houses.
Before 7:00, we had gone through Ghost Town (VERY dark inside), Horror in Wax and Castle Vampyr.
And I was impressed that so many employees in costume and out were asking various guests if they were having a great time, and really meant it. They seemed very genuine in pleasing guests. And they all did a terrific job!
We watched the parade and killed some time.
We made the mistake of going to IoA side for those haunted houses.
Shoulder to shoulder crowds. We never did go through any after the US houses.
Two hour waits just were not worth it to us.
We really enjoyed our time. And we know what to do next year.
The downsides were really mostly the other guests. Smokers galore. Even though we were outside it smelled like a bar. I was sure we even smelled smokey. Guests smoked EVERYWHERE, even in crowded ques. Anyone with smoke allergies could not tolerate HHN. I think US required that a third of their guests MUST smoke cigarettes. We even smelled the hand rolled type a few times.
And drunks --
eowwwww. I have read others post about drunks at Epcot F&W. They should go to HHN and really have stories to post. And of course the later it is, there more plentiful they are. By the time we left I felt I was in a frat house.
And I am sure if someone was carrying a beer and drinking it on a WDW ride, the ride would not have started in the first place.
But at least everyone was HAPPY.
We will go again next year for certain.
