Please no flames, this is an honest to goodness question! Help clear this argument up!

DH and I have been going to HHN for the past few years. DH wants to go again this year but our problem is we have a 5 month old and no one to watch him. (No family or friends in the area and I am too paranoid to try any of the babysitting websites just yet)

DH feels like we can take DS with us. His theory is he would sleep through the event ( which he most likely would, h sleeps through parades, fireworks and night shows at Disney) and he would be covered in the stroller the whole time not able to see anything. (Think car seat in stroller with both shades pulled closed. I DON'T do houses and most times I walk on the sidewalk in the scare zones. His theory is DS won't be exposed to anything scary because of this and being covered in the stroller. He also read there aren't any chainsaw guys this year?

His thinking is that since I won't do houses I'll at least have DS to focus on while I wait for him. IMHO I am just fine messing around with my phone and people watching while I wait!

I told him to go by himself but he doesn't want to. He feels like this will be the last time we can go together (unless we find a babysitter) since we will not bring a 17 month old. I'll be honest and say I enjoy it to a degree, but I am a big scaredy cat so it is not my favorite thing so I am not sure if I am being overly paranoid and maybe using DS as a reason not to go.

I've been saying no and then not bringing anything HHN related up in the hopes that DH will forget about it.

Also, I know there are no kids tickets so would we have to buy a ticket for DS? If so that may be the thing to sway him!

So do you agree or disagree with DH?

i would say your Dh is wrong. Let him go if he wants and you stay at the hotel and enjoy a movie or good book while DS sleeps and save the $$ on your ticket for a nice dinner for all 3 of you. When DS is older, you can hire a babysitter and have a date to HHN.

I agree.Better yet save that ticket money and go see the Blue Man Group and get a nice dinner at CW while your DH does HHN.Then meet up when he gets out..

Where did he hear this? Chainsaws are a staple of HHN. The last scare of the SAWS and Steam house is a chainsaw maniac! Plus there are chainsaw maniacs in the acid rain scarezone and several other areas as well!

And I do agree with the above: he should go solo. He can hang out with any of the DIS members going on the night he wants to go. :3dglasses

Not my idea of a fun date! :lmao:

Truthfully DH's argument is that it is only $36 for my ticket. And if I am able to get him to go alone I'll most likely just stay home, do some school work and go to bed early! :thumbsup2

Anyone have any specific HHN facts for this year that I can use as ammo? Any unavoidable and really loud scarezones? Are the chainsaw guys there?

That's the kind of info I'm looking for!! Anything about the houses is irrelevant because baby or no baby there is no way I'm setting foot in one! :rotfl:

Any scary things not on the map? Like a few years ago the chainsaw guys were by Richter's but not on the map.

Honestly, your baby is so young that I doubt that any of the things will scare him. At least mine didn't start having fear of strangers, monsters, etc until they were around 8-10 months. The only thing I would be concerned about is that it is dark and people might trip over the stroller. They might not be able to see the stroller very well or they may be running from a scareactor and run you over. It's crowded and if you mix in alcohol, darkness, and frightened people running, I'm not sure I would feel comfortable pushing a stroller. I'd be worried that some one would knock the stroller over or fall on my baby.

Good point!! Thank you!! I went to MK for the 40th fireworks and he was almost knocked over several time and I was so paranoid!!

I agree. I had a scareactor run over me in a scare zone. It had fog in it and he totally didn't see me . It wasn't a big deal for me but I would hate to see someone fall onto the stoller and possibly hurt the baby, or themselves.

Plus if you aren't going to do any of the houses I don't see the point in going. Your husband should just go by himself. I've been by myself when none of my friends were able to go that night. I still had fun.

Since you have been to the event, I am not sure why you or your husband would even consider taking an infant to HHN. If nothing else, even outdoors there are a lot of very loud noises. Even if the kid is too young to understand what's going on, they aren't going to like the loudness. Does he really think the baby is going to sleep through all that?

I'm not so sure taking an infant to Blue Man Group is that good an idea either.

I would put my foot down and tell him NO you aren't taking a B-A-B-Y to Halloween HORROR NIGHTS meant for adults over 21. Life changes when you have kids and he may not realize it yet. Sometimes you have to give things up. I personally would never take a baby in a stroller into Universal during a HHN. You will be the ONLY PERSON IN THE PARK with a baby there I promise you. Awkward. Dangerous.

chainsaws???

there is one section last weekend that had about 6 scareactors with the chainsaws in one stretch of a dark area.

baby in a stroller................take to hhn..........not a good idea.

Exactally what Mac said. The Lady Luck scarezone and the 7 scarezone both had guys with chainsaws

Sadly she wouldn`t be the only with a stroller containing a baby/toddler.

We were astounded during our trips to HHN how many people bring babies/toddlers/young children to this event. Some of them were screaming blue murder........but the parents were having a ball!!! On a few occasions we have seen children around the age of 6 or 7 be escorted crying out of a house with an adult while we were queueing to go in :confused3 Doesn`t appeal to me to be a fun evening.

I think the website recommends 13 and upwards for this event. It`s good advice.

It`s definately not a place for young children.
