We are
DVC members (home BLT), but we also have a condo in Palmetto Dunes in HHI, which is where the Disney Beach is. I'm sure you know, but the Disney Resort and Disney Beach are on opposite sides of the road, and you will take a shuttle or drive between the two. There is lots to do in HHI all the time. The beaches are great! I know the Resort has lots of kid activities, if you have children. Also, at Shelter Cove Marina (right next to the Disney Resort), they have fireworks every Tues. night, as well as a clown, vendors, and live music with Shannon Tanner. Shannon Tanner puts on a very family friendly show, and plays almost every night of the week. There are lots of dolphin watching, fishing, and crabbing charters that leave from Shelter Cove.
If you go over to Harbor Town (home of the Heritage Golf Tournament), you will pay a $5 gate pass, but there is also live music, restaurants, etc.
Some of our favorite restaurants include Skull Creek Boathouse, Roast Fish and Cornbread, Sea Shack, and Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe for a great breakfast or lunch......oh!, and Guisuippi's Pizza!!
Fresh Market grocery is not too far from the resort, if you want to get some gourmet groceries to cook in.
Beaufort, SC is a great town within an hours drive, and they will be having a big festival "Beaufort Water Festival" the weekend of the 14-15. They should have food vendors, air show, etc. Nighttime at this festival might not be as family friendly. You should be able to check it out online.....
There are great outlet stores in HHI, Tanger Outlets 1 and 2, and also a very small mall (Shelter Cover Mall) near the Disney Resort.
