Hi,
Just got back from our family vacation to HHI. We had a great time, weather was good but very very hot. Heat advisories a couple of days of over 105!
Had a very nice experience with check in. And we checked in around 1 PM and had our room ready by 2:30 PM. Not bad. We thought for sure our room would not be ready until after 4 PM. Nice surprise.
The room overall was clean and nice. But I did notice the "worn" look. Some of the furniture needs to be replaced and there was maintenance that needed to be done. Did not effect our stay, but I did let the Front Desk know when we checked out to make sure someone knew about it. The items that needed attention were:
1) Shower head in master bath was completely pulled out of the wall. (don't you wonder how that happens, was a member actually pulling it out of the wall. Can't even imagine someone would do that)
2) Shower door in master bath did not seal tightly. When we took showers, the water would be all over the floor.
3) Light in livingroom had a very loose bulb head which definitely needed to be fixed.
Had some great recommendations for lunch & dinner from Front Desk and a waiter at Steamers. Here's my list:
1) Marley's Island Grille. Great place, went back two times. NOTE-call ahead to limit your wait time. Even calling ahead, we had to wait 50 mins
2) Steamers-casual place with reasonably priced seafood
3) Crazy Crab-great seafood
4) Imperial Dragon. We always have to do alittle chinese when on vacation.
5) Alligator Grille-great place
6) Sea Shack-voted the best place to get seafood from the locals. Nothing fancy, but good inexpensive food.
7) Larry's Giant Subs-great place for sandwiches
8) Giuseppis-been going there for years. We did enjoy it but the wait was very long and the service was slow. But we would go back again.
9) Hilton Head Diner-great place for breakfast. We always eat breakfast out on our day of departure.
The resort was very full. We did witness a very stupid situation with one of the members. The member was from NY and had a SUV with a hard luggage carrier on top. For everyone that is not familar with the beach house, you can park underneath but there is a height limit was pulling in the garage, the limit is 6' 10". Well we are getting in our SUV from a day at the beach and all of a sudden we hear this very loud bang and scraping noise. Everyone is looking around, I was actually thinking the building was fall down. But no it was a member from NY driving into the park garage with his SUV and luggage carrier on top, getting stuck in the entry. He actually broke the cement entry. Now he finally gets in but how in the heck is his getting out........how stupid can one person be. It is very obvious that the SUV with the carrier is more then 6'10". We left before he got stuck in the exit door and went over to the Lodge and let the front desk know they needed to send maintenance over to help the member get out of the parking garage, but also to estimate the damages. I hope they would make the member pay for the damages due to their stupidity. Just my opinion.
All in all, great vacation. Any questions let me know. Thanks!
