My family has been to HHI three years in a row, all in June. We just returned a couple of weeks ago from our 2009 trip and had a great time (as always).

We are considering shifting our 2010 vacation from June to the second week in August. What are the practical differences between late June and mid-August. This year the temperatures were in the mid 90's (or higher) all week, so I can't imagine it could get much warmer. According to weather.com, August is a wetter month - does this match people's anecdotal experience? I presume the activities, etc at the resort and on the island son't differ much - is this true?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

I have been a couple of times the first week of August. One year it rained almost every day around 6 pm - so there was only one campfire that week due to the puddle in the campfire.

Last summer there was not one drop of rain until the night before we left. Oh - it's hot and humid. LOL But your in a bathing suit all day - who cares?? What is fun is when they start dragging the garbage cans full of ice and dumping them into the pool to cool it down. Clean garbage cans of course.

What activities were you concerned about?? I remember Goofy Bingo, Kids Night Out, Ghost Stories, Magic shows, Fireworks on Tuesday, shrimp boil, BBQ, pool party, craft projects, tours etc.

Thanks for the info. It was so warm a couple of weeks ago that they did the same thing with the ice...huge trash cans full of ice, dumped into the pool - it was very refreshing!

Anybody else?
