We are heading to HHI March 16-23. We'll have four adults and two 13 year old girls. It looks like it isn't going to be as warm as we'd hoped. Would love to hear everyone's suggestions of stuff to do and places to eat on the island. Planning to rent bikes. Any recommendations on where to rent from? Also the girls are very independent and will have bikes so looking for suggestions on things they would like that they can do on their own.

Thanks! Think warm thoughts for me

We rented from Disney. The price was not that bad when you get the "length of stay". The bikes were good. Ride them over to the beach. Take them to the grocery store. My family always gets the drink cups (I know we're crazy, but it's become a tradition) and having the bikes with baskets made it easy for just one person to take everyone's cups. It is a bit of a trek to the beach, but well worth it. Pickup and return is so convenient from Disney. When we left the last day, we hit the road at 6:00 am and we could just leave the bikes at the rental shed in the morning.

The only thing that had me checking other rental places was that they don't have adult tandems.

If you're a golfer, the best quality deal we found was Hilton National.

... and for a rainy day, borrow DVD's from the gift shop. My boys and I got caught up on the Avengers while we were there.

Rent bikes, play mini golf (very close), rent kayaks. At the beach house, ride bikes on beach, play ping pong and billiards.

Go to Sea Pines, Harbourtown and Salty Dog.

Enjoy!

All of the above + since you are staying a week - a day trip to Savannah (about an hour away) is nice -- you can get tickets for the trolley bus tour and get on/off throughout the city. Old Town Bluffton is just off the island and a good trip for lunch for something different. We've done day trips to Charleston too but that's a longer trip than Savannah so probably only done that twice before (been going to DVC HHI since summery 1997). We've done dolphin cruises too right from Shelter Cover....good way to spend a few hours -- and kayaks from Shelter Cove are fun too. We also usually fit in a few hours at the Outlet shopping mall right off the island (could do that and a visit to Old Town Bluffton the same day). The best thing to do on HHI is as little as possible though.....very easy place to relax since it's not like a visit to WDW where you have a 1000 things to fill every second. Ocean temps will be cool but the pools are heated so should be able to swim too. Have fun.

Get a Joyceburger from the grill (does Joyce still work at HHI?)

Go for a walk/ride on Pinckney Island.

Cross 278 and eat at Pazzo.

Visit Sea Pines. Cost is $6 to get it.

If you are going off island to tour, go to Parris Island and visit the Marine Corp Museum and the rest of Beaufort.

For the same reason, come over to Savannah and spend some money :D

Go to at least one campfire.

Eat at Signe's
