HHI - how do you get to the beach?

Thinking about a short trip to HHI - live only 2 hours away. I understand that the resort is not on the beach, that you have to take a disney shuttle to get the beach and they have a beachhouse - is that correct?

Not sure if I'm just going with our 7 year old or if my husband is too, so any ideas for Mom/daughter trip would be appreciated.

You are right the beach is about a mile or so away. When you come out of the resort you will just cross the main street (not sure what it is called) and go about a mile down the road. It kind of winds a little then you will see the Disney Beach House on the left. It is a great bike ride away. My girls loved to ride there.

They also have a small amount of parking available. If you want you can drive. There is parking under the beach house and outside in front.

We usually rode bikes and drove the car. We had our 3 year old son with us and he was not able to ride. My wife would drive the car with him and I rode bikes with my 6 year old daughter.

I should have rented one of the bike trailers and had my son ride in it.

There is a tunnel that goes under the main road and there are lots of people on bikes riding the road towards the beach house. I felt reasonably safe with my 6 year old.
