HHI for Thanksgiving--book day by day? and more...

I'm hoping to use my developer points for a stay Sun.-Thurs. night for this Thanksgiving week. Since I can only book at the 7 month mark, will I need to book day by day? This will be my first attempt at a reservation with MS so I'm a bit concerned about getting everything right.

Also, we're looking for a 2 BR and would prefer a didicated but I don't really know how most rooms are configured. Are there more 2 BR lock-offs?

Furthermore, any help with a room request would be appreciated. I'd like a water/marsh view but close to the pool. I don't mind climbing up stairs.

Finally, we're planning on bringing our bikes. Do they provide racks to park and lock your bikes and is locking them really necessary?

You should have no problem getting a dedicated 2 bedroom for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday and Friday will be a whole different ballgame. My guess is Thanksgiving day is fully booked already on points. There may be a possibility of a cash night. In any case, go on a waitlist if you have to.

You will have a good chance of getting either marsh or pool view. You may get lucky and get both in a limited capacity. We've had a pool view where you could see some marsh.

Most 2 bedrooms are dedicated and walkups.

The resort rents bikes and locks. I figure if the resort feels you need to lock up their bike, mine should have the same security, but that said, I feel pretty safe at HH, but I still wouldn't leave my stuff sitting around unattended. There are several bike racks in various areas.

Me too! This is our third Thanksgiving at HHI. Our experience is that it's very hard to get those nights which are closer to the holiday at 7 months out-but then, come to think of it, we're looking for a 1 BR, which there are fewer of. However, cash rates at that time of year are really low. Two years ago, we went on the waiting list for 1 night, and a few weeks before our trip, the waitlist still hadn't come thru. On a whim, I called and asked about cash rates. The CM seemed surpirsed, "Oh, yes, we have that on CASH". We always stay in the main lodge, but buildings 27 and 29 appear to be water/marsh view and close to the main pool.

Keep in mind you can not waitlist using developer points only your regular points.
