We just left the HHI Resort. It was a short trip but very fun. Got our request to be in Building 12, top floor. Can't wait to go back but it will be a while. We are planning a family trip for summer 2018 in a 2 BR. On the drive home we were discussing which building we would request. Of course, we love the marsh views. Last time, we stayed in a 2 BR was in Building 31 and loved it. We would like to give several options though in order to increase our chances of getting what we want. Building 29 looks like a good location. I thought that I would like Building 18, but DH said it would be too far from the car when trying to haul all our stuff in (DSs bring lots of fishing gear!). Plus I don't think I would want the movie screen in front of my balcony. I like secluded and quiet evenings on the balcony. That's why I don't want to just request marsh view, because I would not like Buildings 14 and 15 due to the lack of privacy. Building 13 looks very secluded, but I forgot to figure out how to get to it. Do you have to walk through the covered parking lot to access it? I think that would be the only drawback. That would just zap the atmosphere. Any other buildings with easy access to parking plus nice secluded marsh-view balconies? Is requesting certain buildings a smart idea?

Of the buildings you mentioned, we've only stayed in Building 18. We've always stayed in 1 BRs, and there's a 1 BR there. I don't remember having difficulty getting from the car, but then we don't have fishing stuff, just golf clubs. BTW, we were also recently in Building 12, top floor. Nice and pretty quiet.

Yes, I LOVE Building 12! We have stayed there several times. Some don't like that there isn't a clear view of the marsh, but I love being surrounded by the trees. It's so peaceful. This is one of the only buildings where someone isn't walking in front of your balcony, too. Those are the reasons I love Building 31!

We are here now, and got miraculously upgraded from a Studio to a 2BR in building 13. The view of the marsh is stunning! The building is steps away from the covered parking area and just perfect.

How lucky! Sure wish that could have happened to us last week. We are used to 2 BRs when we have our DS20 and DS18 with us, but we had only enough points leftover from a trip just the two of us took in October that was cut short from the hurricane. We managed, though. As far as Building 13, my big question is do you have to walk through the covered parking to get to the rest of the resort. I just don't know if I would want to walk through there on my stroll to the pool or the pier. Is there a path somewhere to avoid that?

Yes, you do have to walk through the garage, but it did not bother me at all to have to do that. The blissful quiet and fantastic view were worth that little bit of a walk.

Thanks for the information. I think you are right about it being worth the walk. I guess the marsh gets up too high to have a sidewalk behind Building 12 that connected to the boardwalk in front of Buildings 14 and 15. So if that's not possible, I just think it would be more aesthetic to have a sidewalk that led under the common area outside Big Murggie's Den with some landscaping. That would be much nicer than walking through the parking lot. I actually don't know what is under that common area, now that I think about it. I think I will request Buildings 13, 29, and 31, top floor. All seem to be quiet spots with beautiful views. Hope this doesn't limit my chances.
