Hi! We are looking forward to spending 5 days in HHI at the end of July- the 28th to August 1st- and hope to see some Dissers while we are there- anyone????????:goodvibes

Anyone? Do we have HHIR to ourselves?:rotfl:

We'll be arriving on August 1st for the week...so we'll wave as we pass by!!

We have been the 3rd week in July(2003) and 2nd week in August(2007) and 2nd week in June (2005). Just be prepared for Hot and Humid! we are from boston and our summer weather can be very H&H, but its definitely different down there. July week was the worst of all and we really spent time in the water more than anything(except our a/c unit). It was even too hot to sit and read on the beach under the umbrella without sweating to the extreme! The ocean was refreshing, but the pools got so hot it was like bathwater..they even dumped laundry buckets of ice to cool it down in the afternoon! Don't mean to give the impression that it was not a fun vacation..we return in the summer and just plan to limit outdoor activities as needed. In July, you have a great view of the fireworks at Shelter Cove on Tuesday nights, and the BBQ at the resort is good food, but it was too hot for us to eat outdoors, so we took it back to our room. Mini-golf after sundown was busy and also H&H. We also took advantage of some of the cooler activities in Community room. When we were there last August, the weather was perfect everyday and much less oppresive than July, but I think we just lucked out. I will defintely do a cruise next time(dolphin or otherwise) and grab some sea breezes....shopping and dining on the island are wonderful ....many favorites we return to over and over. Have fun!

By the way..resort was at capacity each summer visit, but still comfortable.

Thank-you for all that wonderful advice! I am acquainted with the H&H of the south in July, my Mother in law lives near Destin, Fla, and I know when we've been there in July the humidity is so thick it just hits you in the face and knocks you down when you walk out the door. I've been on vacations where it is so hot and there's no breeze, and all you can do is be in the water, so I think (I hope!) I am prepared for the worst and hoping for something bearable.

But, aren't there ANY Disgeeks who are gonna swelter with me that week??!!
