Going to HHI next week

Should I request the Lodge so that we don't have the noise from the villa above us?

Are there any other differences in the rooms in the Lodge vs the other buildings?

I would have made any requests long ago. It can't hurt to call MS and add a request, but most will make such requests at the time the reservation is made.

The 1BRs are all the same. Only the view would be different. Unless you are on the top floor of buildings 11/12 there would be a villa above you.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll have a great stay regardless where your villa may be.

The lodge has elevators but is further from the pool.

Jumping in with a question. We will be there August in a 1 bedroom. I understand that almost all the 1 bedrooms are in the main lodge. How many are else where? I did not make a request when I booked but I am thinking of calling to ask to be near the pool or is the lodge better.

I've seen the map how far is the lodge from the pool...it looks kind of far.

Im in the same situation. Since i have a baby with a stroller im happy to be in the main bldg with elevators. Is anything else in the main building? Also, is one bldg closer to the elevators than the other?

There are 21 1BRs. All are lock-offs, meaning they are connected to a Studio.

16 of these are in the Live Oak Lodge - Buildings 11/12. Some are HCA. The other 1BRs and Studios are located beneath one the 5 GVs at the resort found in buildings 16,18,19, 28 and 30. None of these have a pool view but are closer to the pool than buildings 11/12. The resort is pretty compact so nothing is far from anything else - less than a 5 minute walk from end-to-end.

Unless a HCA 2BR is needed, the lock-offs are usually reserved only as separate 1BRs and Studios. There are no other HCA villas at the resort. None of the GVs are HCA.

Buildings 11/12 are connected. The parking garage is under the combined buildings. Technically, the elevator is physically located in building 11, but from a practical standpoint it serves both buildings - they are relatively small buildings. Building 11 is also home to the Front Desk and Big Murgies Den (with TV, pool table and small living room type area).

I know we will be happy no matter where our room is! I requested a marsh view awhile ago. I think I'll just let where our room ends up to chance. The view is more important to us.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me all this information. It seems like we will be fine where ever we are. If I had it right 11/12 gives us the opportunity for higher floors maybe with a little view and the other building are ground floor (correct)....thanks again....we will be there in 6 weeks....

That's the main reason why we request the lodge when we go (almost always a 1 BR). We've been in the other buildings twice in our many stays. Both times the noise from above was very obvious. And one day, I was standing near the front desk and overheard a family who was moving rooms. The reason for them moving rooms? The first they'd been given was on the first floor and it was noisy from above. That's not to say you're guaranteed to be unhappy with the first floor. One time, I swear the family above had the exact same sleep patterns as us. I didn't mind the footsteps during the day at all, knowing they'd be asleep and awake within a few minutes of us.

Remember the one bedrooms not in the lodge are under the two story three bedrooms that have a 12 person max. That's a lot of footsteps coming and going. We will be in a three bedroom in a couple of weeks. I truly hope if the noise is an issue the people come to me first before moving. But anywhere u stay is close to the pool and snack stand. Like Doc said 5 mins end to end.

We stayed in a 1BR in Building 16. The noise from above wasn't horrible but it was definitely noticeable. Definitely no view since the deck overlooked the resort interior. Not to say that it was a bad view...quite nice with all the trees. The entry door faced the marina on the other side. We were just a short walk from the pool.

Enjoy your stay at DHHIR! We LOVED our stay in 2010. The best vacation we've had in a long time. While we love WDW, HHI is just such a different vacation. We actually didn't need the vacation after vacation like we do when we head to Florida!

In fact, when I asked my kids if they wanted to go to Disney World or back to HHI this year they both chose HHI!
