My DH and I will celebrate our 20th this upcoming June. We want to spend a few days at one of the DVC resorts.

We can't decide if we want HH or Vero. Vero would be great because of the closeness of the beach, but it doesn't look like there is a lot else to do.

HH looks inviting because of the proximity to Civil War cities in the Carolinas.

OK, which do any of "ya'll" perfer?

Although the beach is close at VB, you have to travel a ways to eat at other than the resort. The beach & beach house are great at HH. There are many places to visit at HH including only a 1/2 hour ride to Savannah, GA. Although we have add on points (50) at VB, we usually use the time there to relax after an extended stay at OKW/WDW. If we would have seen HH before OKW/VB, it may have been a tough decision on where to place our points for the "home" (11 month window) resort. But since we like off season at OKW, the weather might be very iffy at HH.

Vero Beach!!!

There is so much to do, we hardly ever leave the resort when we go there. Nothing beats sitting on your balcony watching the waves roll in or possibly catching a glimpse of a shuttle launch.

Pool, slide, mini golf, bike rides, beach, waverunner tours to Pelican Island, etc.

Eating-we have never left the resort to eat. Between Shutters and Sonya's there is always a big choice. Not to mention Sonya's sunday brunch and the seafood buffet.

The city of Vero Beach is awesome.

Drive around and find all of the cute little shops.

Make sure you stop at Casey's Place in town-the local hang out for the best BLT you will ever have!!!!

Check out Capt. Hiram's or the Ocean Grille if you are looking for good places to eat in town. There is also a local theatre that always seems to putting on an interesting production.

If you do eat at the resort-don't leave Shutter's without getting the sorbet flavor of the day. They make a different flavor every day and it is the best!!

Can you tell I like Vero Beach. After typing this I feel like crying because I wish I was there right now.

This one is a tough call. Have been to both and love both. However, at that time of year, I think I'd go with HH.

You're not going to be dissapointed with either, they are both great resorts, availability might play a part, at that time of year Vero is likely to be easier to get into.

HH is more of a "stand alone " resort, there is more to do in the area and although you need to travel to get to the beach it really isn't that inconvenient. IMHO HH has the better beach for kids as it's wider, a lot less steep and in my experience the surf is a lot more gentle.

If you're looking at it as an "add on" with a WDW trip , I'd opt for Vero as the drive is a lot less.

In terms of quality, there is nothing to choose between the resorts, Vero feels a little more like a hotel , where as HH feels more like it's own little hamlet. The restaurants on site at Vero are excellent (if a little pricey) but while HH doesn't have a proper restaurant on site there are a number of very reasonable restaurants and bars just a couple of minutes walk from the resort, HH also offers probably Disney's best dining option which is "A Private affair" run by chef Gordon. He will prepare a meal in the beach house just for your group and will prepare pretty much whatever you request. It's a great evening and the food was absolutely outstanding.

Vero=awesome.
I will never forget sitting outside with my wife at the bar area and having a glass of wine with a full moon overhead watching the waves wash ashore. As with any resort you can do as much as you want or nothing at all.

Nink,
Welcome to the DIS!!!! We have stayed at both. If you are going without kids, I would pick VB. For pure relaxing without leaving the resort, VB can't be beat.If your husband is a golfer he will love HH.
Both resorts are 1st class. If you are flying from Houston, HH nearest airport is Savanah( 45 minutes) away. If you fly into Orlando's airport for VB, it is 1 hr 45 minutes to VB.There are other airports to fly into but those 2 give you the most choices and best fares. Whichever you pick you can't go wrong.
