DH and I returned on Saturday from a trip to HH. In a word - Wonderful !! We were there from Sunday, Sept. 17 and left on Saturday, Sept. 23.
We arrived about 12:30 pm. The only 1 bdroom ready was 1812 - so we took it. Good room, it had a marsh view, which was what I wanted because I had plans to do lots of "rocking and reading". Room was in good shape.
Weather: The weather was good all week. It did rain on Tuesday, but we had taken a boat cruise to Savannah. It did rain on the way back to HH causing us to be about 30 minutes late in arriving back. We sat in "protected waters" for about 30 minutes waiting for the storm to pass.
The next morning it was really cool, had to have a beach towel blanket as I sat "rocking and reading". By Friday it was warm and muggy again.
Golf: DH played golf three times (yes I'm a dear wife!) He played the Ocean Course at Sea Pines, Oyster Reef at Hilton Head Plantation, and Barony Course at Port Royal. All were good and he had fun.
Took the DVC members "Behind the Ears" tour on Wednesday. It was interesting. The guide showed us lots of hidden Mickey's. That was the only resort activity we took part in.
Food: We did lots of eating in. We did grill steaks one night. That was fun. We did eat at The Salty Dog Cafe, Redfish Restaurant, Sticky Fingers, and Giuseppi Pizza. All were good.
Only negative: The people in the GV above us got a little loud one afternoon. They were playing their music really loud. We think a CM came and ask them to turn it down. I think I heard them say they could hear the music four bldgs away. It did get better. After dinner, I was on the porch and the guy from above asked me if I could smell what he was cooking, no, but the pounding on my head (the music) was a little annoying. He apologized and turned it down and no more problems.
All in all it was a great, wonderful, relaxing vacation. Just what DH and I were looking for. We hope to go back again.
