My DH and I just returned from our first DVC trip ever at HH. We brought both sets of our parents and my 2 younger brothers along with us and stayed in a 2 bdrm. and a studio. The resort is beautiful. We checked in on Sunday the 17th, the studio was ready at 1:30 but the 2 bdrm wasn't available until 4:15. We were very impressed with both rooms. The only minor problem was that the dishes in the 2 bdrm were put back in the cabinets with food still on them. I had to put them all in the dishwasher and run it right away, not a big deal. The master bedroom in the 2 bdrm was beautiful and we really enjoyed the tub! I just wish that I could have locked the door that connected to the bathroom from the tub side to be sure no one could accidently walk in! (No one did by the way!)
While at the resort, we rented bikes. It is a great place to ride around. We also attended a camfire. Oh, don't be late - my DH and I had to sing I'm a little teapot in front of everyone! At least we got smores at the end. The campfire was cute, but it's really for the kids and the young at heart. If you embarress easily you may not enjoy it. We also went to the Tuesday night BBQ, but didn't really think it was worth the money. The food was good and it was a fun thing to do, but they charged $20 a person for hamburgers and hotdogs. My younger brother entered and won the pie eating contest so he had a great time! The fireworks were really nice, we couldn't see them from our balcony (we were in rooms 1613 & 1614) but it was only a short walk to a great view.
We spent one day at the beach. The beach was wonderful. The water was so warm. I would have liked to spend more time at the beach, but there was so many other things to do. We played golf at Eagle's Pointe. It is located on 278 right off of the island. I'm not that good of a player so I couldn't justify paying the prices to play on the island. The course was great though and we had a lot of fun, despite the heat! We also did a dolphin cruise one day. It was really nice, we saw dolphins and a great view of the island itself.
Other activities included shopping, swimming in the pool, more shopping, eating out, going to Harbour Town and relaxing. On Friday after checking out, we went to breakfast and then drove down to Savannah, GA. We took a trolley tour around town. If you get a chance to go there, definitly do. The city is gorgeous! It was a wonderful trip and we can't wait to go back to Hilton Head. If you'd like to check out a picture slide show go to http://www.photoshow.net/redir_ss.php?show=XkBOnAHzc
(It may take a while to load - sorry!) Oh, by the way, thanks to everyone who gave me driving tips, it was a nice ride. Long, but nice. I don't recommend the Motel 6 in Fayetteville, NC though. It was swarming in bugs. We weren't bothered at all by bugs in HH but I got eaten alive IN my motel room in Fayetteville!

I love reading Hilton Head trip reports. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. We may have to cancel our cruise in November and I was really bummed out but we have narrowed down alternatives to either Hilton Head that week or Grove Park Inn. We're leaning toward Hilton Head which is our favorite anyway.

Did you have a chance to have a meal prepared by Chef Gordon? I want to definitely book that since we're celebrating our 10th anniversary. How was the shopping? I think I read on another post that the Disney store at the outlet center is gone. Is that correct? I liked shopping there but there are plenty of other places that will take our money. What was your favorite restaurant? Did you take Disney's dolphin cruise or book one of your own?

Thanks again for the report and I look forward to your comments.

Just wanted to say glad you had a great time in my hometown! Sounds like you had a very relaxing vacation, can't wait until my own!

Glad you had a great trip. Hilton Head is one of our favorites.

No, unfortunatly we didn't have dinner prepared by Chef Gordon. There were 8 of us and money was a little tight. Next time my DH and I go just the two of us it is first on our agenda.

Coligny Plaza was great for souvenier shopping, so was Harbour Town. I didn't get to the outlets so I'm not sure about the Disney store.

The most fun night out to eat we had was at the Cracker Barrel. It was right up the street from the resort, excellent food and service and extremely reasonable prices for a family of 8. We also really enjoyed the Crazy Crab in Harbour Town.

We chose not to take the Disney dolphin cruise since it was $30 a person. Instead we took another cruise out of Broad Creek Marina. The boat was bigger, there was about 20 people on it instead of only 6 on the Disney one. We really enjoyed it, but dolphins didn't come right up to the boat as I have heard they do on other cruises.

Thank you for the wonderful trip report and the picture show! I loved it! HH is one of our favortie places to visit also. :D

That was great! HH was never on the top of my list of places to go but that made me think otherwise. The pictures were beautiful. Thank you!!

I'm glad to know that we weren't the only people that were unimpressed by the cookout. Others have liked it, though, so maybe they just had an off-week.

And speaking of shopping... what's up with the resort's gift shop? Almost all of the souvenirs were from WDW. I was traveling with a couple of power shoppers that were dying to buy HH souvenirs, and we had to go elsewhere to do it. It seems like DVC's missing out here.

Thanks for the HH review. I love reading reviews of HH, we are going on our first trip there in a few months. I Can't Wait.

Just made HHI ressies for March 2004. I sent your photos to MIL, SIL and BIL they will be joining us.

Better than any brochure I could have sent them.

Thanks for sharing the photos! They were wonderful!

That was the BEST slide show I've ever seen!! Thank you so much!!!:D

Jimbo - I totally agree. I was surprised that they didn't have very much Disney Hilton Head merchandise. I was able to get a Christmas ornament and a pin though! But it seemed wierd to buy WDW stuff when that's not where we were. I hope they expand their selection soon.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the pictures! I had a great time taking them! :D

We absolutely love HH, and were there last TG and we're going next June. IMO, it is the best DVC resort. The offsites add wonderful variety to the DVC program, I'd love to see them build another one someday.
