What type of restaurants do they have at HH??? It looks like 2 counter services as far as I've seen??? No regular dining??? Where do you usually go;for those who've been there?

I just posted our HH trip report on the DVC Mousellanous board - HH only has fast food with limited hours. :Pinkbounc

There's a HH restaurant thead floating around somewhere on this forum, with everybody's favorites listed. Try doing a search. While resort dining is limited there are dozens of wonderful restaurants to choose from on the island. Shelter Cove is a 5 minute walk--lots of choices there as well. :sunny:

No sit down on site. However, there is plenty. Skip Kingfishers which is right across the bridge to theleft. The place to the right is very good though. Other great places to eat are the Salty Dog, Stickey Fingers, and NYC Pizza.

There are several very nice restaurants over in Sea Pines by the lighthouse.

There is a $5 per car charge to get into Sea Pines, but it is well worth it. :thumbsup2

Old Oyster Factory is excellent. It's about a 10-minute drive and doesn't take reservations. It's huge but begins to fill up quickly at dinner time. Ocean Grill sits right across the water from the resort, but you have to go the long way around (over the entrance bridge then follow the road to the right) since there is no walkway or bridge at the far end of the resort. Take about 3 minutes by car or a brisk 10-min walk. They're smaller than OOF, but the food is slightly more upscale. Service at both was good, and each had a kid's menu. I preferred OG as they had a delectable seared tuna with wasabi and fresh ginger, but OOF had a larger menu. Can't go wrong with either place. As another implied, Kingfisher is okay, but there are better places. :)

We just returned from HH as well. I really think it depends on what type of vacation you want at HH. There are a number of great restuarants. We ate at a place called the Sante Fe. It is right across the main road (278?) from Shelter Cove in a mini mall type place. It was very good and recommended to us by a local guide. They do take reservations. Request to sit outside, upstairs, before dark. You'll have to call for a number, as they are not listed in the tourist books that we saw.

We really went to HH to relax. I did not think the restuarant experience was relaxing, for the most part. (Keep in mind that we live in Montana, the land where you rarely have to wait for a table.) There is a Piggly Wiggly very close to the resort, grills on site, deli salads and sandwiches, etc. We did do the Disney Tues. night barbeque. The meal was very overpriced we thought, but not bad food. The activities were a blast, and a definate don't miss. You don't have to buy the bbq to do the activities, but it sure made it easy with kids.

Hope this helps and you have a great time!

I agree about the Oyster Factory -yummy!
There are plenty of restaurants on the island and several good ones within walking and or bike riding distance.
I would also say that the counter svce. is pretty good, for what it is. I had a very nice salad and some good breakfast choices there.
