We've been to Vero Beach the last two summers and love it . . . all of us (DH, DD 11, DS * & Me (DW 43))! However, I think we ought to try Hilton Head because I've heard lots of good things and . . . well, I'm curious. So I told DH we ought to try it this summer instead of VB and his response was, "Why?" I stammered and said, "Well, a lot of people seem to prefer it over VB." My usually eloquent DH responded with another "Why?" (Did he revert to the status of a 3 yr old I ask!?! LOL!). So I said, "I don't know. I'll ask my buddies on the DIS right now!" His response? "Do it!"

So, here I am. We know we love VB, but in your opinions should we try HH or stick with VB?

I really love HHI, but I also happen to love VB as well! To me, they are similar in that I have had some of my most relaxing vacations at those two places. If you truly want the "beach" experience, I'd probably stay at VB, just because it's right outside the door, but it's not that much of a problem at HH to get to the beach. At HH, there are so many things to keep you busy outside of the resort, in addition to all that goes on at the resort. When we go to VB, we rarely venture off the resort property (except for maybe a few meals). I guess my response to DH would be "Why not?" It's Disney, so it's going to be good; it's another option to try to see if you like; it'll be another place to add to your list of favorite places - so why not?

HH is more of a resort community. You can rent bicycles for the week and peddle up and down the beach. The gradual slope keeps it hard enough for bicycles wheels.

I think the best things about VB are the beach and pool. It is very relaxing and we have enjoyed it but I just don't find much to do there. Maybe I haven't looked in the right place.

I like the beach at HH. We always spend at least a few days playing at the beach. We love the pool as well. But what we really like about HH are all the things we have found to do there. There are lighthouse tours, dolphin cruises, we bike ride for miles and miles, nature preserves, Savannah, tons of different places to eat, great programs offered at the resort. We all really enjoy the feel of HH.

The only way to find out for sure is to give it a try.

Lisa
