Hey Sigma f1.4 Fans...

Whats the cost going to be. The Nikkor 50 f/1.4 goes for about $270. The Canon version goes for about $310.

If this goes for under $250 or at least closer to $200 then this could be a very good recommendation for the Nikon entry level crowd (ie: D40, D40x & D60). The Pentax version goes for under $200. If it is in that price category then Sigma may have done themselves one heck of a great service.

We'll definately have to keep an eye on this one.

I saw that... I'll be curious to see how it performs. There's no mention of the # of blades, which seems to be a big factor in how the bokeh looks on such lenses.

I was also glancing at the Zeiss 50mm F1.4 which is available in Nikon and Pentax mount... interesting but the MF might be difficult when it gets dark enough to really need such speed.

It'll certainly be a tough sell in the Pentax mount due to the low price of the OEM one but the more choices, the better! I could see it being a fairly big success in the Nikon field for those D40/D40x/D60 owners, like Kyle said.

Now, if Sigma would come out with a good, affordable 85mm F1.4, they may get some of my money... c'mon, Sigma!

That is exactly what I was thinking- I have an 85/1.8- but Nikon's 85/1.4 is way expensive. I would definately be interested in a Sigma version.

i am more than happy with my "nifty fifty" canon lens. and for 80 bucks i couldnt be happier with it. i very rarely shoot in low light and my L lenses usually do the trick anyway.

i would like to see what the price is on it when it comes out though!
