I agree with others on here that the Paul McCartney song is the worst. And I'm a huge Beatles fan. But that is one awful song.

Also the Beach Boys "Little Saint Nick" is a bit weak. E.g. a chorus of "Christmas comes this time each year!" Not terribly inspired.

I like almost every song in this thread with the exception of Christmas Shoes. I hate that song.

My least favorite Christmas song is the sad depressing song from Charlie brown Christmas. "Christmas time is here....." It has to be one of the most depressing sounding songs I have ever heard!

I love "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time". I turn it up and bounce around when it comes on.

I heard the Hippopotamaus song for the first time the other day and I thought it was adorable. Some people say that is the worst Christmas song.

In this household it is.

The hippo song grates on my nerves.

It's like nails across the chalkboard grating.

I am guessing that you have not heard Dominic the Donkey.

I would take Dominic over the hippo song any time.

My vote for worst Christmas song ever - "Do They Know It's Christmas".

Sappy, contrived 80's tripe and especially horrible due to the line "there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas" No kidding. Not only is part of it on the equator, but for most of Africa it's summer at Christmas time. If there was snow, there'd be bigger problems.

I think the Christmas music being played at the stores this year is the worst I've ever heard --like it came straight from the Disney Channel. I'm not sure who supplies the "tapes" for businesses to play, but I wish they had just forgotten it this year. I work in a major dept store and if I hear "Last Christmas I gave you my heart...." one more time...and they play two different versions of it. Bring back the oldies, but the goodies, PLEASE.

But I don't like the John Lennon one "Happy Christmas - War is Over" song . The only thing that makes it bearable is the fun of mimicking Yoko Ono's singing while it plays .

One "classic" I can't stand is the old "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree". And I don't really like "Jingle Bell Rock".

Best newer Christmas song for me has to be Alan Jackson's "Let it Be Christmas" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9JV0oaNi24 ,
and I'm not even a country music fan for the most part. But this one has become one of my favorite secular Christmas songs of all time, and the whole album is terrific.

I am not a big fan of Christmas music to begin with.

But I am a big Wilson Phillips fan and I do like that song (and like the whole album, actually)!

Wilson Phillips was on Dr Phil last week. It was good to see them together again. They sang Silent Night to a big family with a lot of interpersonal problems that was trying to get back together. It was a real tear jerker, especially given that nobody knows about family problems like the Phillips and Wilson families!

Totally agree, "Feed the World" is the worst Christmas song ever!

Yeah, no kidding there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas -- I think their problems would really multiply if there was! And how patronizing "do they know it's Christmas time at all?" yeah, because I'm sure if there is no snow and no gifts than they don't know it's Christmas I'm sure African Christians would really appreciate that sentiment!

My other "change the station NOW" Christmas song is "Last Christmas"

Maybe you should buy that someone special a gift instead of cheaping out and giving her/him "your heart" as a gift. Just sayin'

I'm not a big fan of it either, but this year my husband and I made a little mash-up version we sing of that plus Elvis' "Here Comes Santa Claus" that makes it a little more fun but still kind of annoying :

Bruce: "Saaaannta Claus is comin' to town, Saaaaannnta Claus is comin' to town."

I disagree. Christmas Shoes is 100x worse.

And there's a Christmas song about somebody being sorry for breaking up, I forget what it is called and most of the words, but I hate it. Not Last Christmas (although that one gets annoying too).
