Hey Rvers! Anyone been out on a cross country trip?

We leave next Friday on a month long cross country journey that takes us from PA through the midwest to Colorado Springs, Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Disneyland, Grand Sequoia, Yosemite, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Sister Bay Wisconsin, and back to PA.

Would love to hear your experiences and any words of wisdom.

We are a family of myself, DH, DD 8. and DD 7.

No advice but I'd love to hear from you when you get through! We hope to take the grand circle tour one summer in a couple of years and I'm happy to learn from others!!

In 2001 we went from South NJ to Phoenix. We towed our travel trailer. 2 parents, 3 kids - one was potty traing!!. We had a GREAT!!!!! time. We really loved it. It was such an adventure. It wasn't without little problems here and there. Nothing major (minor truck trouble, pulling into a campground and pulling right back out again...it was scary!). But the fun way outweighed any troubles! My older kids have great memories, My oldest DD celebrated her 9th birthday in Pecos, TX and my DS lost his first tooth in Arkansas!

You will have a great time!!! We want to do it again, but head out towards South Dakota.

By the way this was our first trip EVER towing our trailer. We learned real fast what gas stations you can get into and which you can into and back out of!!!

I wouldn't call it a vaction, but the military moved us from Ga. to Ca. in 2001, and we came from Ca. to NY in 2003. We pulled our camper all the way and tried to make a vacation out of it. It was ok, and we had the chance to meet alot of nice people.
With that being said, I think if we told the kids we were going cross country again they would shoot us!

I can't offer any advice either, but I am also in southeastern PA and dreaming of doing a similar trip when my kids get a little older (currently DS 1 and DD 5). We have done the Grand Circle tour(BC - before children) but we flew out and rented a car. I would love to hear about your itinerary and how your trip goes!!!

We have been from Southern California to South Dakota and beyond a few times. This summer we are also including Yellowstone and Montana on our way to Mt Rushmore area (where MIL and family are).

What kind of RV are you taking? That would help me give you some advice that I have found helpful during our jaunts.

in July, we are heading the winnie mecca in forest city, iowa....
spending five days or so....they say it is something you gotta see....
then heading west...have not made any firm reservations yet, but
hope to see South Dakota and keep heading west...
any suggestions ifin you have done this before...
will then head back east and stop in western NY to see our son...and
BACK HOME to Long Island, NY>>>>>>>>>>>
no matter where we go, I am always happy to come back home again............and, THE BEAT GOES ON......................
