Jenny, I'm depressed for you - all our threads have wonderful tickers....your ticker STINKS!![]()
what a day! I have to admit that I was scared! Here's the scoop: Mark and Marshall were at the Hyatt on the 31st floor in the club lounge. They heard a boom which they thought was thunder (it has rained off and on). When they looked out the window all they saw was smoke. Meanwhile, John, Mallory and I were coming back to the hotel and were on 42nd and 5th Ave. We turned the corner and saw nothing but people running through the streets and sidewalks. Men in suits, women in dresses as well. A lady grabbed me, spun me around and said "take your children and run as fast as you can.....that building could collapse". We took off running down 42nd until we got to about 8th ave. I finally located Mark by cell (the lines were clogged) and he was running as well with Marshall who was crying. We met up at ESPN where who do we run into, but TRACY!!!! I have to say that it really helped Mallory to see Tracy again. She actually calmed down after that.
We ate dinner at Bubba Gumps and tried to call the hotel, but no answers. So, we walked down to the area where we were directed to 47th and Madison to enter the terminal lines to Grand Central Station. We were allowed to cross the police lines with our room key. Outside our room the streets are blocked and covered with NYPD, FDNY, and ambulances. A steam line had exploded underground which caused a transformer to blow. The streets are soiled with the dirt from the steam pipes. We all have little specks of the dirt on our clothes which is annoying!I guess it will be time to go home tomorrow. But, we don't fly out until 6 p.m.
I keep saying I am going to the Today Show tomorrow, but we'll see! Mark and Marshall took an abbreviated tour of NBC Studios and Marshall got to see the SNL set and got selected to sit at the Weekend Update table and read the teleprompter!THey were filming a promotional commercial for the tour, and I guess the camera was on him A LOT!! Watch for him on TV!! They bought us the first season of SNL on DVD!! We all love that show and the first season is a hard set to get! We were going to the Empire State Building when all the commotion broke out, so I don't know if we will get to.
THanks for the blog info Lynn. I will love to read yours and Keith comments and adventures!!!I am so excited for everyone!
Yes, Lucy, my counter STINKS!!! I will make my Key West/Miami one when I get home!![]()

Wow, you guys really saw and did everything in NYC! I'm impressed! So sorry about the fall, I think some of the sidewalks are a little uneven!in Indiana (that is a song, BTW!!). It was, yes, an interesting day yesterday. M&M and I went to the Today Show at 7:15 a.m. We saw Meredith Vierra, Matt Laurer, Al Roker, Ann Curry, and Peter Alexander. They were absolutely the most down to earth, friendly people! Ann Curry spent so much time with the people out in the plaza talking WITH them. She is so sweet! The kids got everyone's autograph, but Meredith. THey seem to rush her around a lot and she was wanting to mingle! THey got their pictures, with Ann, Peter and Al. We also saw Christopher Walkin who was promoting Hairspray, the movie. He was kind of creepy and weird, nor did acknowledge a single person.
After the show was over and the crowd was gone, we started to leave. BUT, I had a Lucy moment. Yes, I twisted my ankle on a curb in the plaza and fell. I landed flat on my chest. I am pretty sore today. My right knee has a knot under the skin and both knees are bruised. Initially, my back hurt and I couldn't get up. Two guys were there immediately and helped me up. I have to admit I didn't have time to be embarrassed because it shook me up. I have recently learned that I totally have lost all athletic ability!!So, it's Jenny=1....Lucy=2!!
You win Lucy!!!
They had one of those segments where they had the latest cool kid's things and when we were leaving a stage guy started handing stuff to M&M. They got colored glitter glue, necklaces, etc. THey LOVED THAT!!!

We went up in the Empire State Building yesterday afternoon which was cool. It was clear, but when we got up there a small storm moved it, so the view was good, but not as good as it could have been. The kids loved it though.
Sunday is our wedding anniversary (12 years), so the kids are going to my mom's for the night. Mark wants to go to a movie, maybe Adam Sandler's new one. Really a quiet dinner would be just fine by me!![]()

I actually heard about your bad weather on another thread! Sorry! We've had a mild summer, not too hot...............now Lucy had a major weather incident last week, but our area has been humid but nothing crazy!Wow Jenny you do lead an exciting life still it hasn't been so quiet here either I don't know if you get our weather news over there but we had a severe weather warning today . Torrential rain from very early this morning I got to work but then all the roads around the village were closed. I had 2 flooded classrooms and a flooded corridor , I was packing this weekend but I think clean up duties come first . We were fine at home thank goodness.
Hope the knee isn't too bad
Love Lynn
