Hey, I'm new- and I'm going to WDW in 9/08!!!!

Hi!!

I'm Rebecca, mom of three from PA. Just booked Riverside today for 9/10-9/17 after becoming hooked on this board! I though since I'm offically going now, I'd join the board and chat with you all!

Soooo... now all I have to do is count down the days, and pray for free dining.

Does anyone have any cool ideas for breaking the good news to the kids? Dh and I want to give it to them as a Christmas gift. We were thinking of getting a Disney Beanie, maybe $50 Disney dollars...and wrapping it up. What do you think?

Welcome I'm new as of today too -- I decided to book a trip for this December after getting very hooked on this board the last couple of weeks, which made me super excited to go to WDW!

For the kids, what about printing out customized maps of the parks for them ( I don't really know how to do this, but i'm sure someone on the site does) and putting the maps in their stockings? Or, if your kids are at the age of costumes, how about giving them a princess dress or pirate outfit (or just a tiera or pirate accessory of some kind) with a note attached? Or, you can order the Disney Vacation DVD and give that to them. I just got mine yesterday and while it doesn't seem very helpful for planning (but i haven't watched it all yet), there are lots of highlight reels of people on rides, kids at the waterparks, etc that my DD age 3 1/2 loved - and she said she wanted to go on every ride we saw on the DVD, including all the roller coasters which I'm sure would scare her to death in person!

There is an awesome design on the design board from Patnl34. I would get the design and iron it on a sweatshirt..I am doing this for my granddaughter for Christmas..The design says: Surprise we are going to Disneyworld and then the date..Pat is just one of the designers on the design board, but this is the one I am using...Good luck deciding...and congrats on your trip..

Welcome to the boards! Riverside is one of my favorite resorts!!! Your going to love it! I think surprising the kids is a great thing for the holidays... What better way to tell them!

Congrats on booking for next year & welcome to the DIS. I was fortunate enough to secure free dining for my trip down on September 15-22. It's almost all paid off too & that excites me. You will have a great time, the crowds were a little more packed than usual but usually most everything is a short wait or a walk-on during September. I'd suggest to book your ADR's early because this year nearly every TS restaurant was booked. Have fun & if you need anything, we here at the DIS are happy to help out.

I think the shirt idea is an excellent one!
I wish I would have kept it a secret for Christams too.. but if you knew me you'd know that is next to impossible.

Welcome, everyone!

Proverbs*Mom, you will LOVE Riverside. We'll be there a week from now. We had an amazing time on our first trip, and really didn't consider staying somewhere different this time. It's hard to mess with something that great.

Love all the great ways to tell the kids. I definitely think some sort of Disney token under the tree or in the stocking is the way to go. Wish we could all see their faces when they realize what's going on!

And I have just booked our 1st trip and we to are staying at Riverside! How Fun!!
