been a rough few days and gonna get rougher
Please tell me to take care of myself. Im starting to wake at night thinking of brother's triple bypass on Mon. Tomorrow we take a trip to the hospital. Mon we go to be with my mother during his bypass. Im not concentrating too well at work; been crying at work. And who knows what's gonna happen to the diet?! Weather has been dreary here for a few days so I havent been able to get out and walk either. Ahhhhh Im going downhill - Hheellpp

IMGTD..... First let me send you som*********Prayers, Pixie Dust and {{{{{Hugs}}}}}*********!!!

Please just remember to Take care of youself too. I know being a woman...our first instinct is to take care of everyone else first.

Please Please Please...make sure you eat healthy choices...stuffing a bunch of sugary sweets or loading up on chocolate is really only going to make your stress more difficult to deal with. Your body is NOT used to eating that way right now, so that should give you motivation not to do it..Plus you need to stay strong (physically) for the rest of your family!!!

We will all be thinking about you....I am sure your brother will be okay...Please let us know!!

Tracy

You are going through a stressful time right now. (((((((HUGS))))))) You need to take care of yourself so you can be a support to your family. Even if you have trouble actively losing weight right now just try to maintain till things calm down.

I agree you are going through alot right now!! Hugs to you and I am sending prayers to your family...Most importantly take care of yourself!! Get plenty of rest and eat right...It won't do anyone good if you get sick right now!

Hugs to you, IGTD!!

Barb, take care of yourself.

Listen, I know this kind of surgery is just frightening. My husband had a quadruple bypass in 1998. I was amazed at how quickly he was up and walking, seriously.

This surgery isn't as dangerous as it once was, new techniques have made it almost run of the mill anymore.

{{{HUGS}}}. Now stop crying. It's not time to cry yet. You are supposed to wait until after the surgery is over and then you cry tears of relief. Honest. I think it's in the heart bypass rule book. I'm pretty sure it is.

Dry your tears, take a few deep breaths and get busy with something to keep your mind off this for a while. It's not good to dwell on scary or sad things so much.

Remember, on WISH we don't concern ourselves with yesterday nor do we worry about tomorrow, we only care about right now. That's because we can't change the past and we can't plan the future, we can only take care of right now.

Okay? Give it a shot. Get busy with something and get your mind off of your brother's surgery. You get to worry as much as you want to while he is in surgery.

Remember, if you need to talk we are all right here to listen and we care. We care about all WISHers :)

Barb, don't cry! My DH had a quad bypass in January, right about the time I was feeling better from cancer surgery and chemo. He was in the hospital for only 5 days. (Went in on Monday and was home on Friday)

He's 53 and in good health other than his arteries, so recovery was fairly quick. He's kind of a workaholic, so we set his recliner next to the computer. LOL So he was able to do e-mails and play games when he wasn't sleeping. He's an engineer and computer geek so this made him happy.:D

Recovery was hard, but it's the same with most surgeries. Now, he so happy he had it done. He had been in a lot of pain for several years and now he has no pain and walks at least 2 miles everyday. (our dog is so happy!)

So, chin up, and think positive thoughts!

thanks guys
Dad had his 2nd bypass done over 10yrs ago and yes I need to remember things have changed since then.
He lived a long time (about 17yrs) after he was first diagnosed with his heart disease.
