I mean, really good deals! We are still recovering from almost 3 weeks in Fl in Jan/Feb (ok, not really, but that was a LOT of money--and the dollar is so much better NOW!). Just looking for a trip somewhere to look forward to. Uh, NOT domestic. :goodvibes Fl would be great, but I don't think Disney subscribes to "really good deals" in any configuration! ;-) We keep seeing all kinds of great deals for just after Christmas but never plan for that--maybe this year? Anyone done any of the Caribbean spots with little kids? (7 and almost 5) Figured this was a good spot to ask about family travel! Would really like something where they can really, really have fun without us for a few hours! Or a cruise maybe. Would love it to be a Disney cruise, but as I said, I've just never seen cheap. Alternately, I've seen some great repositioning cruise deals in the past, and I could wait til the spring for something like that...haven't been thinking about travel, and don't know where to start looking. (Tough spring/summer, we ended up selling our house and moving, new town, new job, new schools, new house--all good, but stressful!! We need a break!)

Last year we booked an all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic. It was a sell off that ended up costing, incl. tax, $771 per person. Now, it was only a 3 star but we went with no expectations and we had a great time. This resort is constantly on sale. Maybe because it is not directly on the beach, but they had a shuttle to the beach that took less than 5 minutes. Also, this resort is in a gated/guarded complex with 12 resorts so it is very safe and there is a small shopping plaza in the middle of the complex. We would go there again without a second thought.

January is usually a really cheap time to go to an all-inclusive. Especially, the first 2 weeks in January. If you can go with only a week or two notice than you can get an excellent deal. If you need to give more notice, then pick a week that is historically slow and take anything that meets your needs. Also, the last 2 years the tour operators have had boxing day sales, watch the paper for the flyers.

As far as a trip to FL, you can make it an inexpensive holiday. This past February I took one of my DD's for 6 days to WDW for $1200. That included air, hotel, meals, tickets and spending money. I know that we could have even done it for less.
