...A POOL SLIDE!!!:cool1:

We're a family that swims & slides every afternoon during our vacations, and for our boys, a water slide is a HUGE BONUS for them!!!:woohoo:

And unlike Orlando, where many neighbor hotels have pool slides, NOT ONE neighbor hotel has a pool slide in Anaheim. NOT ONE!:confused3

That's all it would take for you to get our business everytime over staying onsite or anywhere else.::yes::

Anyone else with a Good Neighbor Hotel wish (considering it IS the Year of a Million Dreams)?:rotfl:

It is an insurance thing from what I have been told in the past. Too much of a liability, and even then the older motels only had those plain blue slides that looked like old playground slides.

I wish they would too because that's a big part for us during our warmer month stays but it's sadly not gonna happen!

I work for a company that owns a hotel in California. I can tell you there is probably one reason for no slides - LAWSUITS!! Our insurance company actually inspects our pool every year and has stipulations about no slides, diving boards, certain types of hand railings, etc... So I am guessing there are a lot of lawsuits in California over pool issues.

They don't even bother to inspect our pools in Washington, Oregon or Wyoming and don't have nearly as many stipulations about pool safety written into our policy. Of course, those states are colder, so less people swimming and as a result less risk for the insurance companies.

I am guessing that Disney has water slides because they probably have a huge policy that covers all sorts of potentially dangerous rides. Plus they probably pay millions each year for their policies and the insurance companies are more likely to let them do what they want so they don't lose their business!

I'll bet Florida has different laws regarding pool injury lawsuits, so the insurance companies probably don't regulate it as stringently as California.

It's kind of sad that we let the insurance companies regulate our fun - but that's really what it comes down to!

OK YOMD for good neighbor hotels. Let's see.

I know since it's dreams we are after how about $10 hotel rooms that are perfectly clean and sterilized upon my arrival and my own personal moving walkway to the DL gates. I would also like 2 king beds that are sooo comfortable I dont want to get out of them.

I would also hazard a guess that its a staffing issue. All the pools (onsite at WDW, onsite at DL and other hotels we have stayed at around the country) that do have pool slides seem to have lifeguards. The motels on Harbor are all pretty small so to employ a lifeguard to man the slide would get expensive. And since they usually stay fairly full to even sold out, they probably figure why add what we don't need to sell rooms. And I also agree with the liability issue. It would be great but I don't see it happening. The pools and lack of slides and bars at the offsite motels sway my decision oftentimes.

:rotfl: I 2nd the motion for getting moving walkways to the DL gates. Heck, forget about disneyland I might just ride the moving walkways all day.

The beds I can help you with. Stay at the Sheraton Anaheim and you get the sweet sleeper beds. Mmmmmmm! They are the best! Another reason I can't get out of them is because of their height off the floor, I'm only 5' and it is a struggle to get up and down.
The rooms are not $10 but we got a good deal through City and Show!

I want room service.:flower3:
Of the moderate hotels, only Holiday In offers this...but I want a park withing walking distance.

Actually, Florida is stricter than California. However, there reasons for being strict are different...they use pool slides as a scapegoat on not insuring businesses and homes in the event of a hurricane.

The revenue that hotels take in at Florida is much higher than those of the average good neighbor hotel in California, so they are able to afford higher premiums to have slides. With that being said, not that many hotels have slides that are off property at WDW though (albeit, there are more at WDW than DL).

I can see the lawsuit point."Years' ago my dad was,how shall I say it,hammered. He procedes to 'dive' off the top of the slide. Took a nice chunk of skin off his nose.:rolleyes1
btw,it was our pool at home.
